2026 Topps Chrome x Jennie Hobby Box: Worth $79.99?

· 4 min read · By the Friends & Family team

A $79.99 box that sold on eBay for about $160 on release day. 2026 Topps Chrome x Jennie is a K-pop crossover that sold out on topps.com, and the early market is paying roughly double. Here's what's inside and what's left after fees.

2026 Topps Chrome x Jennie came out October 20, 2026. It's Topps' first Chrome collaboration with Jennie Kim of Blackpink, and the topps.com page now shows Sold out. Short version: at $79.99 a box, the early eBay market is paying about double retail, so it has been a good flip so far. Our sports card lead warned before pre-orders that there is a lot of this product, so how long the premium lasts is the question.

What's in a 2026 Topps Chrome x Jennie Hobby Box

  • Price: $79.99 per box. A sealed case (5 boxes) is $399.99 on topps.com.
  • Contents: 10 Chrome cards per box: 6 base, 2 inserts and 2 Chrome base parallels.
  • Release date: October 20, 2026. Pre-orders were scheduled to ship ahead of that date.
  • Status: sold out on topps.com.

What collectors will be chasing:

  • Chrome parallels: a full rainbow of them.
  • Ruby Short Prints and Super Short Prints: featuring artwork from Jennie's Ruby album.
  • Inserts: Chromium Close-Ups and Monochrome Mementos.
  • Autographs, relics and autograph-relics: Jennie's first Topps Chrome autographs, plus concert-worn relic cards.

Topps publishes a checklist and odds for the product on its page.

Why collectors are paying attention

This isn't a sports release. It's a crossover between the K-pop and trading card worlds, and the buyers are a mix of Topps collectors and Jennie fans.

Our sports card lead ML wasn't sold before the price was known. His concerns, from before pre-orders opened:

  • Supply. Going by the odds, he estimated roughly 150,000 packs were made. He called that "a lot of this product" and noted that Topps only said 10 cards per box, so the box count depends on how many packs are in each one. That's his estimate, not a Topps number.
  • Price. He wanted to see about $50 a box to feel good, and thought $100 was more likely. It landed at $79.99.
  • Resellers. He expected much of the supply to go straight to resellers, and that sellers might race each other down.

Retail vs. eBay: what it's selling for

Retail is $79.99 per box and $399.99 per case. Here's what eBay sold listings showed on October 20, 2026. We counted single factory-sealed boxes sold in the US, and left out lots, cases, empty boxes and listings shipped from overseas:

  • Hobby Boxes: 38 sales between October 18 and 20, from $129 to $185, with the middle at about $160. Most are presales or "in hand" listings from sellers who already had boxes, and many were Best Offer sales, which can close below the listed price. Sellers charged $0 to about $20 for shipping.
  • 5-box cases: 11 US sales between $850 and $925, with the middle at about $865. That's roughly $170 a box.
  • Comparable: the same line's last big crossover, 2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars ($179.99 retail), sold for $290 to $335 a box in six recent eBay sales. That's about 1.6x to 1.9x retail, versus about 2x here.

That looks like easy money, so check the math. eBay takes 13.25% plus $0.40 on a trading card sale, charged on the sale price plus shipping and sales tax. A box that sells for $160 with free shipping loses about $22 to fees, leaving roughly $138. Compared with $79.99 plus tax, that's around $58 a box before you pay for shipping. A case at $865 leaves about $750 after fees against $399.99 plus tax, around $350. Shipping costs come on top of both.

Keep in mind that the eBay prices are early, and many are presales. The price can drop once more boxes are delivered and resellers start competing.

Flip, hold or pass? Our take

ML's pre-order call was to be careful with how much of this you buy: it's fun to take a shot on, but not something to load up on unless the price is right. The price came in under his $100 guess, and the early market is paying close to double.

Our read of the numbers:

  1. If you got boxes at $79.99, selling early is the safer play. The premium is real today, but this is a big print run, and an early lead tends to shrink when everyone's boxes arrive.
  2. Cases hold a similar premium per box, about $170, so there's no obvious reason to keep a case sealed unless you have a buyer.
  3. Don't buy on the secondary at today's prices. At $160 and up you're paying for the early rush, and there's little margin left after fees.

What to watch

  • Delivery of pre-orders. Prices usually soften once pre-orders arrive.
  • Big pulls. Autographs, relics and low-numbered Ruby short prints will set how collectors value the box.
  • Restocks. Topps hasn't said anything about more product, so treat that as unconfirmed.

Every Topps drop gets a full breakdown in our sports card channel before it goes live: pricing, what's worth entering, what to skip, and the details you need on drop day. When ML says "pass," members save their money. When he says "enter up for all," they're ready at the drop.

And when it's time to sell, you don't have to rely on eBay. Our WTB and WTS channels are where big sellers, breakers and collectors in the community buy and sell with each other every day, and that's often the fastest way to move sealed boxes and cases.
