What Our Sports Card Group Does

Every Topps drop, broken down

A full breakdown in our sports card channel before each Topps drop goes live: pricing, what’s worth entering, what to skip and the details you need on drop day.

Honest buy-or-pass calls

ML, our sports card lead, tells you when a release is worth entering and when to skip it. Not every release is a flip, and he’ll say so.

Hobby and retail

Releases from Topps, Fanatics and Panini, plus the retail drops at Target, Walmart and other big-box stores.

WTB & WTS channels

Big sellers, breakers and collectors in the community buy and sell with each other every day. It’s often the fastest way to move sealed boxes and cases.

Questions answered 1-on-1

Our 20+ expert staff are full-time resellers who specialize in each category and answer questions 1-on-1.

More than sports cards

Sports cards come with our Complete plan, which also covers Pokémon, One Piece, Magic, Lego, vinyl, Hot Wheels and more, so you have options when card releases slow down.

See a real call: our 2026 Topps Holiday Football Mega Box breakdown — what’s inside, what it’s selling for, and why ML is holding off for now. Or browse all our sports card guides.

Topps Release Alerts and Drop Breakdowns

Topps releases don’t all work the same way. Before each drop, ML posts a breakdown in our sports card channel: the price, whether it’s worth entering, and when to pass.

Topps.com and EQL drops

Some releases run through Topps.com and EQL entry draws. Entry is usually one per person, and a pick is typically final sale, so know that before you enter.

Retail drops at Target and Walmart

Others hit Target, Walmart and other big-box shelves, often with no announcement. We post retail finds when we see them.

What a breakdown covers

The price, what’s in the box, what similar products have sold for, and a straight answer on whether to enter or skip.

See the preorders and releases calendar for every release we flagged, or read how to flip sports cards. We can’t promise alert timing, and popular drops can sell out.

How to Choose a Sports Card Discord

Free servers are good for talking cards and trading. A paid reselling Discord should earn its fee by helping you decide what to buy. Whichever sports card groups you compare, check:

  1. 1

Does it explain why, or only ping you?

A good sports card group tells you why a drop is worth entering and what similar products sold for, not just that something is live.

  2. 2

    Hobby and retail coverage

Topps, Panini and Fanatics hobby releases and the retail drops at Target and Walmart behave very differently. Check that the group covers the ones you buy.

  3. 3

Will anyone tell you to pass?

Not every release is a flip. A group that never says “skip this one” is selling you hype.

  4. 4

Who answers questions, and how fast?

Ask a specific question on day one and time the reply.

  5. 5

    Moderated buying and selling

If it has trading channels, look for moderation and scam rules.

  6. 6

    Clear price and terms

Weekly, monthly or one-time, plus a written trial and refund policy you can read before you pay.

  7. 7

    Results labeled as individual

Posted wins should be labeled as individual results, not promised outcomes.

  8. 8

    Other categories for slow weeks

Sports releases come in waves. Check what else the group covers when card releases slow down.

Run any group through these checks, ours included. For the full 10-point scorecard, read our guide to the best resell groups.

How Sports Card Flips Work

Flipping sports cards takes more than speed. Here’s what matters before you buy a box to resell.

  • Hobby vs. retail

Hobby boxes come from card shops and online sellers, cost more and usually include guaranteed hits like autographs, relics or serial-numbered cards. Retail boxes, such as blasters from Walmart, Target, Meijer, CVS and Barnes & Noble, can be much cheaper but usually don’t guarantee a big hit. Collector and mega boxes cost a bit more and often include a guaranteed autograph, and more retail products now carry their own exclusive inserts and parallels.

  • Where drops happen

Topps runs pre-orders and drops on Topps.com, while big-box stores restock on their own schedules, often with no announcement. ML covers both sides in our Discord, so you hear about the hobby drop and the retail one.

  • Who makes what now

Fanatics bought Topps in 2022. Topps regained the NBA license on October 1, 2025, with its first licensed NBA cards since the 2009–10 season, and Fanatics’ 20-year exclusive NFL deal kicked off with 2025 Topps Chrome Football on April 15, 2026. Panini previously held both licenses.

  • Check the math

eBay’s final value fee on sports trading cards is 13.25% of the total sale (item, shipping and tax) up to $7,500, plus $0.30 per order on orders of $10 or less, or $0.40 above that. In our Topps Holiday Football breakdown, a $29.99 box that sells for $48 with free shipping loses about $7 to fees, and after you ship a heavy box, that’s a few dollars of profit at best. Check sold listings, not asking prices, before you buy.

  • Buy sealed, check the return policy

Collectors warn about pack searchers who weigh or press loose retail packs to find the hits, and about boxes that get opened, resealed with filler cards and returned for a refund. Inspect any box you buy in store for signs of tampering. A flip is low-risk when the retailer accepts returns, but pre-orders and limited editions are sometimes final sale, so check first.

  • Know when to pass

Mass-retail products can sell out on pre-order and still be easy to find later, and heavy boxes eat margin in shipping. If the math doesn’t work after fees and shipping, skip it and wait for the next release.

Where Sports Card Flips Sell: eBay, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace and More

The same card nets a different amount depending on where it sells. Compare fees, shipping and rules before you buy.

  • eBay

    Fees
13.25% for trading cards; 13.6% for most other categories, including vinyl. Plus $0.30 per order of $10 or less, or $0.40 above $10. The fee is charged on the item price, shipping and sales tax.
    Often used for
The biggest audience, sold-price history, and selling a preorder before it ships
    Watch out for
Returns and buyer disputes; new-seller selling limits; presale listings must say “presale” and ship within 40 business days
    eBay selling fees
  • Mercari

    Fees
10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping. Listing is free, and the old payment-processing fee was removed for new listings in January 2025. New prepaid shipping label prices start October 19, 2026.
    Often used for
Casual buyers, quick listings and lower-priced items
    Watch out for
Shipping prices change on October 19, 2026, so re-check your shipping math; smaller audience for high-end items
    Mercari fees
  • Facebook Marketplace

    Fees
10% per transaction with an $0.80 minimum on orders paid through Meta's checkout, calculated on the sale price, shipping and taxes. In-person sales don't go through checkout, so check Meta's current terms.
    Often used for
Local pickup of bulky items such as lots and large boxes
    Watch out for
No-shows and scams on local meetups; keep payments and messages on the platform
    Meta merchant terms
  • Whatnot

    Fees
8% commission in the US Sports category at the Standard tier (Whatnot moved existing sellers to tiered commission on September 21, 2026), plus 2.9% and $0.30 payment processing.
    Often used for
    Live-selling sports cards and collectibles
    Watch out for
You sell on a schedule and in front of an audience, and it takes time
    Whatnot seller fees
  • Amazon

    Fees
Individual plan $0.99 per item sold, or Professional plan $39.99 a month, plus a referral fee that varies by category (5% to 45% across Amazon's table). Media, which Amazon says includes vinyl, is 15% plus a $1.80 closing fee per item.
    Often used for
Sealed, in-stock products with existing listings
    Watch out for
Some categories are open to everyone, some need a Professional plan and some need Amazon's approval; check Seller Central for your exact product first
    Amazon selling plans and fees

Fees checked October 2, 2026 from each marketplace's own page, and they change, so confirm before you list. Fees, shipping and taxes reduce what you keep. Sports trading cards use eBay's 13.25% category rate. Some of the eBay links on this page are affiliate links. Full comparison: Reseller Fees 2026.

“They are very good at pivoting to new profit streams. I started with sports cards and when cards started to slow way down the team at GFNF made sure they offered its memebers alternative ways to make profit. The staff has always been top notch to deal with and will always answer questions. This is a great group to work with.”

Meet Your Sports Card Lead

ML's Discord avatar

ML

Sports Cards & Retail

11+ years in the game, with a huge start on the Yeezy Zebra release. When there's a sports card drop, he's our main man — covering Topps and Panini for hobby releases, plus Target, Walmart, and others for retail.

ML runs sports cards in our Discord. When he says “pass,” members save their money. When he says “enter up for all,” they’re ready at the drop.

Take the 2026 Topps Holiday Football Mega Box: his call for now is to hold off unless you already have buyers lined up. It’s a mass-retail product, shipping a heavy box eats the margin, and there’s no rush to lock in money on a pre-order.

He’s one of our 20+ expert staff. Meet the rest of the team.

Sports Card Group FAQ

What is a sports card group?

People looking for sports card groups usually mean one of two things. Sometimes it's a community, like a Discord server, forum or Facebook group where collectors talk, buy and sell cards. Sometimes it means a group break, where buyers each pay for a spot, such as a team, and a breaker opens the product and sends each buyer the cards from their spot. Friends & Family is the first kind: a sports card group on Discord focused on reselling. Breakers are part of the community too, buying and selling with members in our WTB and WTS channels.

What is the best sports card Discord to join?

It depends on what you want. Collector and trading servers are great for talking cards and making trades. If you want to resell, look for a sports card reselling Discord that posts a breakdown before each drop, covers hobby and retail, and tells you when to pass. That's what ours does: a full breakdown before every Topps drop, calls on retail releases at Target, Walmart and other big-box stores, buy-or-pass calls from ML, who runs sports cards for us, and WTB and WTS channels to buy and sell with other members.

Are paid sports card Discord groups worth it?

They are if the calls help you catch the good releases and skip the bad ones, and you act on them. A pass call that keeps you out of a box that won't flip after fees is part of the value. Results depend on what you buy and the effort you put in. Complete is $20 a week or $60 a month, and you can cancel anytime.

Do I need a bot?

No. Most members check out manually from their phone. The info is the edge, not the software. For sports cards, you check out yourself using the drop details we post. Free ACO (auto checkout) covers only the hottest Pokémon and One Piece drops, not sports cards.

What's the difference between a hobby box and a retail box?

Hobby boxes come from card shops and online sellers, cost more and usually include guaranteed hits like autographs, relics or serial-numbered cards. Retail boxes, such as blasters from Walmart, Target and other chains, can be much cheaper but usually don't guarantee a big hit, though collector and mega boxes often include a guaranteed autograph. More retail products also carry their own exclusive inserts and parallels. In our Discord, ML covers Topps and Panini hobby releases plus retail drops at Target, Walmart and others.

Is there a free sports card Discord?

Yes. Free servers exist for chat, trading and restock pings. Ours is paid and built around flipping decisions: a breakdown before each Topps drop and honest buy-or-pass calls. Complete is $20 a week or $60 a month, so you can see whether that is useful to you.

What is a sports card cook group?

Cook group is reseller slang for a paid community, usually on Discord, that shares release information, alerts and analysis. Our sports card Discord is part of Friends & Family, a reselling group.

Can you still make money flipping sports cards?

Sometimes, product by product. Some releases clear fees and shipping and many don't, and heavy boxes can lose money on shipping. Check sold listings rather than asking prices, work out your profit after fees and shipping, and never count on a result. Nothing is guaranteed.

Where can I sell sports cards: eBay, Mercari or Facebook Marketplace?

eBay charges 13.25% on sports trading cards plus a small per-order fee, Mercari charges 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and Facebook Marketplace charges 10% (with an $0.80 minimum) on orders paid through checkout. Amazon may require approval for some card categories. The fee table on this page was checked in October 2026.

How do I get Topps release alerts?

Topps announces releases on its site and release calendar, and retail restocks can happen with no announcement. In our Discord, ML posts a breakdown in the sports card channel before each drop. Popular drops can still sell out, so there are no guarantees.

How much does it cost?

Sports cards are part of Friends and Family Complete: $20 a week or $60 a month, billed through Square. Complete also covers Pokémon, One Piece and Magic, Lego, vinyl and CDs, Hot Wheels, video games and Monster High. Our $6-a-week TCG plan covers Pokémon, One Piece and Magic only and doesn't include sports cards.

How do I join the sports card Discord?
