2026 Topps Mars Attacks Christmas hit topps.com on October 6 and the Hobby Box is already sold out. Short version: it's a fun, quirky release with a real secondary market, and boxes are reselling about $30 to $40 over retail. But after eBay fees and shipping, the profit is thinner than it looks, and the box is much easier to flip if you already have a buyer.
What's in a 2026 Topps Mars Attacks Christmas Hobby Box
- Price: $69.99 (up $5 from the last Topps Mars Attacks box, per ML). The topps.com listing was already sold out when we checked, so we couldn't confirm the price on the page itself.
- Contents: 10 packs per box, 5 cards per pack
- Box extras: 1 Greeting Card Box Topper or Present Rip Card per box, and 2 numbered parallels per box
- Case: a sealed Hobby Case is also listed on topps.com and is sold out
- The set: a 50-card base set with original art, plus an extended base set that features 25 characters
What collectors will be chasing:
- Caught in the Crossfire Chrome Autographs: celebrities fighting off the Martian invasion, including Mike Tyson, Dennis Rodman and Jeff Goldblum.
- Invasion-Worn Relics: relic cards with pieces of items from the battle between Santa and the Martians.
- Sketch cards: ultra-rare cards by top artists.
- Mars Invasion Chrome: a parody of Cosmic Chrome's Youth Invasion inserts that swaps players for Martians.
- Cryptids Alliance facsimile autographs: Santa and other cryptids, with Chrome-stock refractor parallels.
- Snowcaps parallel: a base parallel numbered to 5.
Why collectors are paying attention
Mars Attacks has been a cult favorite since 1962, and this is a holiday twist on it. ML says the odds show about 50,000 total boxes were made, and that cases should produce at least one auto based on those odds. That's a lot more supply than a Chrome or Bowman Sapphire release, but it's still selling out and trading well above retail.
Retail vs. eBay: what it's selling for
Retail is $69.99 per Hobby Box. Here's the eBay market from sold listings as of October 12, looking only at sealed single Hobby Boxes (not cases, break slots or single cards):
- 4 sales on the first page of results, ranging from $99.99 to $139.99.
- The $139.99 sale was a presale (September 14, before release). The three post-release sales, all on October 11, were $99.99, $104.99 and $109.99, so a typical price is about $105. Two of the three were Best Offer listings, which can close below the asking price, and one buyer paid $5.99 extra for shipping.
- Sample size is small. Most of the sold listings for this product are single cards and break slots, so we only have a handful of whole-box sales to go on.
There's no earlier Mars Attacks Christmas release to compare against, so the closest benchmark is the previous Topps Mars Attacks box, which ML says cost $5 less. We didn't find a reliable sold-price history for it, so we're not quoting one.
The math: eBay takes 13.25% plus $0.40 on a trading card sale, charged on the sale price plus shipping and sales tax. On a $105 sale with free shipping, that's about $14.30 in fees, leaving roughly $90. Compared with $69.99 plus sales tax at retail, that's around $15 or so per box before you pay for shipping, and a 10-pack box is heavy. If prices slip toward the $99.99 low, the margin gets thinner fast. These numbers assume you actually got a box at retail, which is the hard part now that it's sold out.
Flip, hold or pass? Our take
ML runs sports cards in our Discord, and the call on this one was positive: good to go at $69.99, with a caveat. The expectation was that boxes would be a slower mover, since most of the stock has to go to end consumers, and there would be some "brickers" (people who overpay or buy too many and end up selling at a loss), especially if Topps had lots of release-day stock. What we saw since is that the box has held above $100.
Our read:
- If you got it at retail, selling now is reasonable. About $90 after fees is a solid return on $70 if shipping is cheap.
- If you're buying on the secondary at $100+, it's not a flip. There's no margin left.
- Cases are another story. Sellers in our WTS channel are already offering boxes and cases, which tells you supply isn't tight. Don't expect it to climb much.
What to watch
- Whether the $100 floor holds. If sold prices drift toward $80, the flip disappears.
- Hits on eBay. Auto and relic prices are strong, which is propping up the box price. If pulls stop selling, the box follows.
- Restocks. If Topps lists more boxes, the price can drop quickly.

Every Topps drop gets a full breakdown in our sports card channel before it goes live: pricing, what's worth entering, what to skip, and the details you need on drop day. When ML says "pass," members save their money. When ML says "enter up for all," they're ready at the drop.
And when it's time to sell, you don't have to rely on eBay. Our WTB and WTS channels are where big sellers, breakers and collectors in the community buy and sell with each other every day, and that's often the fastest way to move sealed boxes and cases.
