The Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box has an official MSRP of $34.99, per Wizards of the Coast. On eBay it has recently sold for far less: most of the 43 single-box sold listings we reviewed on November 6, 2026 fell between about $13 and $25, with a middle price near $20. It is a standard retail product with no published print run, so there is no official "how rare is it" number.

Google Trends (US, checked Nov 6) lists "magic the gathering marvel super heroes beginner box" as a rising query of +90% over the past 7 days and a Breakout over the past month, next to "marvel secret lair" (+120%) and "marvel commander decks" (+50%). This page answers the price, contents and resale questions behind those searches.

How much is the Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box?

Wizards' Marvel Super Heroes buyer's guide (published June 2, 2026) states: "The Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box has an MSRP of $34.99 USD." The set released June 26, 2026, and the guide gives no separate date for the Beginner Box.

Retailer shelf prices vary. Listings that showed up in search results on November 6 ranged from $19.99 to $35.00 across small online game stores, so some retailers have marked it down well below MSRP while others still list it at full price. We did not verify stock at any of them.

What is in the Beginner Box?

Per Wizards, the box "contains 10 themed half-decks, 2 gameboard playmats, and all the tokens you need to start playing Magic." Two of the half-decks are ready-to-play tutorial decks themed around Iron Man and Captain America. The other eight are monocolor half-decks. Wizards pitches it as an on-ramp "for new fans or players looking to teach their friends" and says it is designed and packaged like a board game.

The page does not list card counts per deck or say whether the box is booster-free, so we are not claiming either. Nothing in the contents list mentions boosters.

Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box eBay sold prices

We checked eBay's sold listings on November 6, 2026 for "marvel super heroes beginner box magic". The first results page showed 43 single-box sales (we left out cases, lots and bundles):

  • Typical range: about $13 to $25, with a middle price near $20. The ten most recent sales we read, dated Oct 25 to Nov 5, ran from $12.27 to $25.00.
  • Low end: a handful of sales at $9.50 to $12.
  • High end: a few listings at $30 to $39, and two outliers at $60 and $74.99 that we would not treat as the market.
  • Case of three: one sold for $49.88 on Nov 3, about $16.63 per box.

So the going eBay price is roughly 40% below MSRP. There is no premium on this product.

Is the Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box worth it?

It depends who you are.

  • Worth it for a new player or a gift. Two playable tutorial decks, eight more half-decks and two playmats for about $20 is a lot of Magic for the money, and it is the product Wizards built to teach the game.
  • Not worth it as a quick flip. If you can only buy near MSRP, the resale price is below your cost before fees.
  • Hold only if you are patient. There is no sign of a shortage. Whether a sealed Beginner Box ever climbs is unknown, so we would not price one in.

Fee math: what a reseller keeps

eBay's published rate for Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games is 13.25% of the sale up to $7,500. We confirmed that on eBay's selling fees page today, and we add the $0.40 per-order fee on orders over $10 that we have used in earlier articles.

If you pay You need to sell for (before shipping) to break even
$19.99 (discounted retail) about $23.50
$26.99 about $31.60
$34.99 (MSRP) about $40.70

At the $20 middle price, a seller nets about $16.95 after fees, before shipping and packaging. That is a loss on every copy bought at or near MSRP, and roughly a $3 loss even on a $19.99 purchase. Shipping a boxed set adds more.

Why the price sits under MSRP

A beginner box is built for new players rather than collectors, and sellers on eBay are competing on price while some stores discount it. We have no sales numbers, so this is our reading of the sold data, not a stated cause.

Retailer terms

We did not verify the return, cancellation or shipping policy of any retailer for this product, and Wizards does not state one. Check the seller's return window before buying a sealed box online, and do not treat any sealed purchase as low-risk. It is only lower-risk when the seller accepts returns, and you have to confirm that yourself.

Flip, hold or pass? Our take

This is analysis, not a promise.

  • Flip: Pass. With eBay near $20 and fees around 13%, there is no margin unless you find copies well under $15 shipped.
  • Hold: Not for profit. Keep one if you want to teach someone Magic.
  • Buy to play or gift: A fair choice at about $20, a worse one at the $34.99 MSRP.
