Fender Japan and The Pokémon Company announced two guitars for Pokémon's 30th anniversary on October 30, 2026: a Made in Japan Pokémon "Red Version" Stratocaster and a "Green Version" Telecaster. Each costs ¥396,000 and is sold by lottery only through Pokémon Center Online. No production number has been published, so there is no official figure for how rare they are.
This is not a trading card story, but it is a Pokémon Center exclusive with a hard sales cap, which is the kind of release resellers and collectors watch.
Pokémon Fender guitar price: how much are they?
- Red Version Stratocaster: ¥396,000
- Green Version Telecaster: ¥396,000
Both prices are listed on the official Pokémon Japan announcement page and match the guitar press coverage. At about 150 to 160 yen per dollar that is roughly $2,500 to $2,650 each before any shipping, import duty or tax. Check a live exchange rate before you do any math.
Lottery dates and how to buy
Per the official page, entries open November 19, 2026 at 12:00 JST and close November 24, 2026 at 4:59 PM JST. It is a lottery, not first come, first served, so there is no queue to win. Entries go through Pokémon Center Online (Japan).
What the sources we read do not say: whether the Japanese site ships outside Japan, whether there is a per-person limit, and whether a US sale is planned. Treat any claim about those as unconfirmed until Pokémon Center or Fender publishes it.
What you get
- Pixel-art bodies with sprites from the original Pokémon Red and Green games, including a Poké Ball and a Game Boy Color, under a semi-transparent pickguard that shifts between fluorescent colors
- Poké Ball fretboard inlays: rosewood on the Stratocaster, maple on the Telecaster
- Single-coil pickups plus an 8-bit sound effect when you pull up the push/pull volume knob
- A "Pocket Monsters 30th" neck plate with a tiny Pikachu sprite
- Pokémon Center branding on the headstock, per the official photos
Guitar World and Guitar Player both note this follows other Fender Japan pop-culture releases, such as the Monster Hunter and Godzilla guitars.
How rare are they, and what will they resell for?
There is no published print run. All we know is that sales are lottery-only, which signals limited supply but is not a number.
We have no eBay sold data to share, because nobody has received one yet. Do not trust a "sold" price for a guitar that doesn't exist yet. Pre-orders from random marketplace sellers before the lottery results are a red flag.
Flip, hold or pass
This is analysis, not a promise.
- Flip: Too early to call. Winning means paying about $2,500+ per guitar up front, and a lottery win does not guarantee a premium. Wait for real sold listings after shipping starts before assuming a profit.
- Hold: A licensed Pokémon x Fender 30th anniversary guitar is a collector's item. If you want one to play or display, the lottery is the fair route.
- Pass: Pass on any reseller offering to "get you in" or selling a spot before November 19.
