Sony's PlayStation Prism Collection is three new transparent designs for the DualSense controller and PS5 console covers, announced on the PlayStation Blog on October 28. Preorders start November 10, 2026, and the launch is February 4, 2027.
The useful question for a reseller is whether these are worth lining up for. The previous see-through set gives us a good test.
What's in the collection
- Colors: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray, each with a glossy finish.
- Controller: a clear, high-gloss back with a metallic middle cover.
- Products: a DualSense wireless controller and a PS5 console cover in each color.
| Item | US price | UK | Europe | Japan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DualSense controller | $84.99 | £74.99 | €84.99 | ¥12,480 |
| PS5 console cover | $74.99 | £64.99 | €74.99 | ¥9,980 |
Retailer prices and availability may vary, per Sony.
When and where to buy
- Preorders: November 10, 2026 at 10 a.m. local time. In the US that's 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET on direct.playstation.com.
- Launch: from February 4, 2027. Exact dates can vary by country.
- Console covers direct from PlayStation: US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal and Italy. Other regions get limited quantities through select retailers.
Sony's post doesn't say which PS5 models the covers fit, and it doesn't give quantities. We couldn't confirm either one.
What happened with the Hyperpop Collection
Sony's Hyperpop Collection last winter used the same formula and the same prices ($84.99 controllers, $74.99 covers). Preorders opened January 16, 2026 and it launched March 12.
- Early demand was real. By the second day of preorders, at least two controller colors had sold out at PlayStation Direct in some regions, including Germany. The US store still had all three colors at that point, and covers were still available.
- The aftermarket didn't keep the spike. We checked eBay sold listings on October 28. These are individual sales, not averages:
| Hyperpop DualSense (eBay sold) | Price |
|---|---|
| Rhythm Blue, new, sealed | $74.99 (Sep 11), $70.52 (Oct 21 and 22), $73.85 (Oct 28) |
| Techno Red, new, sealed | $79.82 (Oct 18) |
| Remix Green (condition not stated) | $59.88 (Oct 19) |
| Remix Green, used and tested | $41.50 (Oct 16) |
Those new sealed controllers are selling for about $70 to $80, below the $84.99 retail price, and fees come out of that. We didn't find enough clean sold data on the Hyperpop console covers to give you a number.
Flip, hold or pass?
Flip: be careful. The Hyperpop set suggests the money, if there is any, comes in the first days after preorders open and in places where colors sell out. After that, supply seems to catch up. A controller you pay $84.99 for that later sells at $70 to $80 isn't a flip.
Hold: only what you'd use or collect. A new-sealed copy of the least popular color is the safest to sit on because it's easy to get at retail later.
Pass on paying a markup. If you miss the November 10 drop, don't buy at a scalper price before Sony's February launch. Hyperpop controllers have since settled below retail, so waiting is usually cheaper than paying a markup.
If you do buy on the 10th: the US drop is 7 a.m. PT on PlayStation Direct, and two controller colors sold out in Germany within two days. Pick the color you'd want to keep.
Unconfirmed: quantities, cover compatibility, and any retailer preorders beyond PlayStation Direct. Sony's post doesn't give them.
