2026 Bowman Football went on sale on topps.com on September 30 at 12pm ET. Every Hobby, Jumbo and Mega format sold out, sealed cases included. Short version: the Hobby and Jumbo boxes both sell for well above retail on eBay. Once you take out fees, though, the regular Hobby Box only leaves a thin margin, and the Jumbo is the better flip. The retail Mega and Value boxes are a pass unless you already have buyers lined up.
What's in 2026 Bowman Football
Here's what Topps lists for each format:
- Hobby Box: $309.99, with 20 packs of 8 cards and 2 autographs per box. A sealed case of 12 is $3,719.99.
- Jumbo Box: $519.99, with 12 packs of 24 cards and 4 autographs per box. A sealed case of 8 is $4,159.99.
- Mega Box: $64.99, with 6 packs of 7 cards and exclusive parallels. A case of 20 is $1,299.99.
- Value Box: $29.99, with 6 packs of 10 cards. It was the only format still in stock on topps.com after release.
- Price change: Hobby and Jumbo both went up $20 from the pre-order price (the Hobby pre-order was $289.99).
What collectors will be chasing:
- 1st Bowman cards of top college prospects, plus NFL rookies such as Fernando Mendoza. This is the first Bowman Football release with college and NFL players in the same product.
- Arch Manning, whose first Topps card is in this set and who headlines a lot of the eBay listing titles.
- Chrome Autographs of prospects, rookies and veterans, plus Future Script (college-only autos) and 1955 All-American Autograph variations.
- Case-hit inserts: Spotlights, Crystallized and Etched-In Glass return, and Anime and GPK inserts are new to Bowman Football.
- Bowman Red Rookies: short-print Red RCs that can earn FanCash rewards tied to career milestones, starting with NFL Rookie of the Year.

Why collectors are paying attention
Bowman is the brand people buy for prospecting: you're betting on a player's first card before the player is a star. For 2026, Topps put college and NFL players in one product, so one box covers the whole pipeline, from college prospects to this year's rookies to established stars.
Before release, the big question for retail was whether the case hits would only be in Hobby. When the odds came out, ML, who runs sports cards in our Discord, read them as showing that Mega and Value boxes carry the full run of case hits with nothing held back. That's good news for anyone ripping retail. Early reports of big case hits pulled from retail boxes back it up.
For a comparable, look at last year's college-only 2025 Bowman University Chrome Football. Its Hobby Box was $149.99 on topps.com on release day. It sold for only about $120 to $130 on eBay last spring, under retail, then climbed to roughly $200 to $240 in September 2026. Bowman football boxes can dip after release and still recover.
Retail vs. eBay: what it's selling for
Here's what eBay sold listings showed as of October 1, counting single sealed boxes only. We left out break spots, lots, cases and First Day Issue boxes, a separate version that sold for $1,000 or more.
- Hobby Box, presales (September 8 to 29): about 140 sales from $343 to $440, with the middle around $395. None of the buyers had the box in hand yet.
- Hobby Box, release day (September 30 to October 1): 46 sales from $360 to $450, with the middle around $400. Most of these sellers said the box was in hand, and a few were Best Offer listings, which can close below the listed price.
- Jumbo Box, presales: 42 sales from $600 to $700, with the middle around $670.
- Jumbo Box, release day: 23 sales, mostly $650 to $710, with the middle around $680.
- Mega Box: about 40 sales since mid-September, mostly in the $80s to low $90s, against $64.99 retail.
Now the fees. eBay takes 13.25% plus $0.40 on a trading card sale, charged on the sale price plus shipping and sales tax. We used a 7% sales tax for the numbers below. Yours depends on your state.
- Hobby Box: a $400 sale with free shipping loses about $57 to fees, leaving around $343. A $309.99 box costs about $332 with tax, so that's roughly $10 a box before you pay for shipping.
- Jumbo Box: a $680 sale loses about $97 to fees, leaving around $583. A $519.99 box costs about $556 with tax, so that's roughly $25 to $30 a box before shipping. At the $700 presale level it was closer to $45.
- Mega Box: an $85 sale leaves about $72 after fees, a few dollars over the $69.50 it costs with tax, and that's before shipping.
Prices dip after almost every release once the release-day orders arrive, and that would squeeze the Hobby margin first.
Flip, hold or pass? Our take
ML's call, by format:
- Jumbo is the better buy. It has twice the autographs of a Hobby Box and the bigger margin after fees.
- Regular Hobby margins are "just alright." It still sold out fast, and ML doesn't think the market started at inflated numbers and expects it to hold up reasonably well even after release-day boxes land.
- Pass on retail boxes (Mega and Value) unless you already have buyers lined up or are happy to hold. They sat in stock at a lot of stores during pre-orders, and the eBay math above shows why.
If you got Jumbos, you can sell some now while the margin is there. If you got Hobby Boxes, the case for holding is stronger: the comparable above recovered after a dip, and 1st Bowman cards tend to gain value as players get drafted and break out. That's our reading, not a promise.
What to watch
- Big pulls. Early Arch Manning, Fernando Mendoza and 1st Bowman autos, and Anime or GPK case hits, can move box prices.
- The post-release dip. Watch sold prices over the next few weeks as release-day orders ship.
- Retail restocks. Mega and Value boxes will keep turning up at big-box stores, which caps what they sell for.
