2026 Topps Chrome Formula 1 released on October 15, 2026. The hobby box was $479.99 at retail and sold through an EQL draw, and sealed boxes were selling on eBay for about $800 the same day. Short version: the hobby box is a clear winner on paper, but you had to win the draw to get one, and the gap is a mix of presales and early "in hand" listings that can move quickly.
What's in a 2026 Topps Chrome Formula 1 hobby box
From Topps' official product page and launch page:
- Price: $479.99 per Hobby Box
- Contents: 20 packs per box, 4 cards per pack (80 cards), with one Chrome autograph card in every Hobby Box per the box art
- How it sold: an EQL draw on launch.topps.com, with a limit of 2 per customer (the launch closed October 15)
- The set: a 200-subject base set covering F1, F2 and F3 drivers, cars, legends, team duos, team logos and team principals
What collectors are chasing:
- Full Grid Refractors: new this year, numbered to 22 and featuring the current F1 driver line-up.
- The parallel ladder: Refractors, Blue, Green, Purple, Gold and Orange, up to Black, Red, 1/1 SuperFractors and Printing Plates.
- Chrome Autographs: a 100-subject autograph set with more on-card F1 autographs than ever, including Arvid Lindblad's 1/1 F1 Debut Patch Autograph. The Grail programme returns.
- Inserts: Speed Wheels, Austin to Mexico City, Helmet Collection, Dancing in the Rain, Futuro, Genesis, The Grid, Helix, Abu Dhabi At Night and Chrome Anime.

Why collectors are paying attention
F1 cards keep growing, and Topps Chrome is the premium product in the line. Retail formats went on sale alongside the hobby box. According to our sports card lead, the Mega Box was $69.99 and the Blaster Box $34.99, with Topps.com selling the Value and Mega boxes directly while supplies lasted.
Last year's edition shows what the demand looks like. 2025 Topps Chrome F1 hobby boxes sold for $449.98 on eBay on April 2, 2026. The few 2025 boxes that sold in the past week were listed from the UK, Ireland and Italy at about $649, with import fees due on top. I haven't verified the 2025 retail price, so treat that as a market reference rather than a profit comparison.
Retail vs. eBay: what it's selling for
Retail is $479.99 for the hobby box. Here's the eBay sold-listing picture as of October 15, 2026, for exact 2026 Chrome F1 hobby boxes only (single boxes, no lots or cases):
- Release day (October 15): 15 sales between $749.99 and $1,049, with a middle price of about $800. Some listings were still presales ("confirmed order") and some were in-hand boxes. Several sold on Best Offer, which can close below the listed price. A single outlier at $344.99 looked like a mismatched listing, so I dropped it.
- October 13 to 15 combined: 19 sales, range $749.99 to $1,049, middle price about $850.
- Presale sales earlier this month: roughly $810 to $1,000 for single boxes, which lines up with the "around $900" market our lead was watching before launch.
- Mega Box: at least 11 release-day sales between $150 and $190 against a $69.99 retail price, mostly on Best Offer and a few presales.
Now the fee math. eBay charges 13.25% plus $0.40 on a trading card sale, on the item price plus shipping and sales tax. A hobby box that sells for $800 with free shipping loses about $106 to fees and leaves roughly $694. Against $479.99 plus tax, that's about $210 before tax and shipping, and shipping to the buyer comes on top. A $165 Mega Box nets roughly $143 against $69.99 plus tax. Those margins are real, but it only works if you actually got the box at retail.
Flip, hold or pass? Our take
ML runs sports cards in our Discord. Before the drop, his call was to enter the hobby box draw for everything you can: the market was pushing toward $900 and he expected the product to sell out quickly. His view on retail was that Mega Boxes and Blasters should stay viable because the hobby box is so expensive.
Two things from today's numbers:
- Hobby boxes have already slipped from the pre-launch ~$900 to about $800. That's still well above $479.99, but expect it to keep drifting as boxes ship and more sellers list.
- ML didn't have odds or print-run figures when he posted. His read that retail wouldn't "brick" was an expectation, not something confirmed. Check the Topps odds sheet and the numbers in the first few days of in-hand sales before you buy on the secondary market.
If you won a box at $479.99, selling now into the $800 range is hard to argue with. If you're buying at $800 or more to flip, the margin is a lot thinner and you're betting on autographs, so that's a pass for most people.
What to watch
- In-hand pricing. If hobby boxes slide under $700 once boxes are widely shipping, the early window has closed.
- Hits. Lindblad and the new Full Grid Refractors will drive singles prices.
- Restocks. Mega and Value boxes can come back at retail, which would pull the secondary price down.
