The 2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars Sapphire Edition Hobby Box launched October 28, 2026 at $299.99, up from $249.99 for last year's Sapphire box, per Checklist Insider. A Hobby box has 8 packs of 4 cards (32 cards), with 1 autograph and 4 parallels reported per box. How rare is it? Topps hasn't published a print run, but the rarest Padparadscha Sapphire cards are listed with pack odds as steep as 1 in 28,400 packs for the insert version.
How much is the 2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars Sapphire box?
- Launch price: $299.99 per Hobby Box. Checklist Insider lists that figure for the EQL drop, and Collectosk lists the same RRP.
- Last year: boxes started at $249.99, so this year is a $50 increase.
- Sale method: release-day sales ran through a Topps EQL drop on October 28. Topps' own product page blocked our browser, so we couldn't read the price there. The price and the sale format come from the two guide sites above and our own release log.
2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars Sapphire eBay price (checked Oct 29, 2026)
We pulled eBay completed Buy It Now sales for the Hobby Box on October 29, excluding breaks and cases:
- Sealed Hobby Box: about $575 to $650, with a couple of outliers near $775. That is roughly 2x retail.
- Caution: several of these sales are labeled "order confirmed" or "presale," meaning the seller hasn't received the box yet.
It's a one-day sample, and it's the launch-day spike. Re-check sold listings in a week.
What's in the box and what to chase
Per Checklist Insider (checklist still marked subject to change):
- Base set: 200 cards, with Sapphire parallels such as Aqua/Blue (1:4 packs), Gold (1:6), Orange (1:12), Black (1:29), Red (1:59) and Padparadscha (1:296).
- Autographs: base autographs (182 cards) plus Kyber Carvings, Duo and Trio autographs. The Kyber Carvings autographs, including names like Mark Hamill and Ewan McGregor, are the long shots at about 1 in 2,883 packs.
- Inserts: Hidden Gems Emerald and Kyber Carvings Sapphire. Their rarest versions are listed at 1:28,400 packs.
Treat odds as reported: the same page lists the Padparadscha base parallel both as a one-of-one and with pack odds, so check the final checklist from Topps.
Why this matters for resale
- Star Wars Chrome has demand. Our 2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars Hobby Box write-up covers the non-Sapphire version that sold out on topps.com at $179.99.
- EQL scarcity. Access is by drop or raffle, so retail buyers are limited and the secondary market fills the gap.
- Roughly 2x retail on day one, before fees.
The case against
- Day-one premiums fade. Hobby boxes often spike at launch and settle once retailer restocks and breaks arrive.
- Presale listings are fragile. Sellers who don't have the box yet may cancel, and those sales may not stand.
- Fees and shipping take about 13% to 15% on eBay. See our reseller fees breakdown.
- Break economics. Buying the box to open only makes sense if hits are worth more than the box, and Sapphire chase cards are very rare.
Flip, hold or pass?
Flip if you got one at $299.99. A sale at $575+ is a strong return on a sealed box, and waiting a week to see whether prices hold is a reasonable call. Pass on paying $575+ to open it, since the odds of hitting a card that covers the price are low. More on the category in sports cards.
