The 2026 Topps Inception Football hobby box costs $379.99 and releases today, November 6, at 12pm ET on EQL, Topps' entry-based drawing system. The short answer on resale value: on eBay's sold listings (checked November 6, 2026), 45 presale hobby boxes sold between $470 and $600, with a middle price of about $500. ML, who runs sports cards in our Discord, thinks that is the high point. He calls about $400 a safe floor and expects the mid-$400s at best. Topps hasn't published odds or a print run, so there is no hard rarity number, but every box has 1 autograph.
How much is the 2026 Topps Inception Football hobby box? Price by format
- Hobby Box: $379.99, per Topps' EQL listing and Fanatics' raffle page. Hobby boxes come 8 to a case.
- First Day Issue (FDI) box: a separate topps.com-only version. It sold out in October at $900 in a Dutch auction. See our Inception Football FDI article.
- Where to buy: Topps' EQL drawing at noon, plus a Fanatics raffle. Shops are listing the box at about $550 to $600, but those are asking prices, not sales.
What's in an Inception Football hobby box?
From the Topps release page and Fanatics' listing:
- Format: 1 pack per box, 7 cards per pack
- Hits: 1 autograph per box (it may be a redemption card with an expiration date)
- Chase: Rookie Jumbo Relic Autographs, Dual Rookie Autographs and Inception Silver Signings, which include rare 1/1 inscription versions. New this year are Immersion Autographs and Charged Particles, plus Gold Electricity and Hot Pink parallels and returning Dawn of Greatness and Genesis.
- The rookie to chase: Fernando Mendoza leads the class. Cardsmiths Breaks lists 523 cards in the checklist.
Inception Football eBay sold prices (checked November 6)
We checked eBay sold listings for the regular hobby box on November 6, 2026, dropping First Day Issue, basketball, cases, jumbo and multi-box listings:
- 2026 Inception Football hobby box: 45 sales, $469.99 to $599.99, middle price about $500. About half were Best Offer listings, which can close below the asking price. These are all presales, because the box hasn't shipped, and many sold weeks ago. Boxes in hand may sell for less.
- The comparable, 2025-26 Inception Basketball hobby box: 52 sales from October 26 to November 3, $494.99 to $799.99, middle price about $575. ML says the basketball version has traded as low as about $400, which is below the sales we found, and notes Topps priced it at $300 versus $379.99 this time.
Is it worth it? The math
eBay's fee on a trading card sale is 13.25% plus $0.40, charged on the sale price plus shipping and sales tax. A $500 sale costs about $67 in fees, leaving about $433. Against $379.99 plus tax (about $407 at 7%), that is only about $26 a box before you ship it. At $450, fees are about $60, leaving about $390, which is a small loss against $407 once you count tax. Shipping costs come on top. So the margin disappears if prices fall to ML's mid-$400s.
Flip, hold or pass? Our take
ML's read: if Topps had kept the NBA's $300 price, these would already be around $400. With the higher $379.99 retail, prices are in the mid to high $400s with release-day hype. His view:
- I'd lean pass on most entries. ML sees about $400 as the floor but not much to gain from there.
- Sell early if you won. ML says to sell as soon as you can unless you are putting boxes away, because prices may hold the mid-$400s but not rise soon.
- Midnight Football lands next week. It adds a very similar product to the mix, which could push prices lower.
Topps put this one on EQL while other releases this week ran first come, first served, and ML isn't sure why.

- Odds. None are out yet.
- Whether sales hold near $450 to $500 once boxes ship.
- Midnight Football next week, and how Inception holds against it.
- Mendoza autograph pulls.
