Festival in a Box Atlanta 2026: $249.99, Worth It?

· 6 min read · By the Friends & Family team

Mystery Booster Commander Edition has only ever been a MagicCon thing. On October 19 it comes home in a $249.99 Festival in a Box, $50 more than last year's Vegas box. Here's exactly what's inside and how the numbers look for resellers.

Secret Lair announced Festival in a Box: Atlanta 2026 on October 5, 2026. It goes on sale October 19 on the Secret Lair store for $249.99, limited to two per customer, "while supplies last."

The headline is what's inside: a full box of Mystery Booster Commander Edition. Until now that product was tied to in-person events, and EDHREC calls this the first time the general public can get it. It also costs $50 more than last year's Las Vegas box.

What's in Festival in a Box: Atlanta 2026

According to Wizards' announcement on magic.wizards.com, each box includes:

  • 1 Mystery Booster Commander Edition box (24 boosters)
  • 1 Secret Gallery: Atlanta, Foil Edition Secret Lair drop (4 cards)
  • 4 Festival in a Box promo cards

Secret Gallery: Atlanta reprints four cards with new art from Atlanta artists:

  • Parallax Tide
  • Regrowth
  • Viridian Revel
  • Assassin's Trophy

The promos are three full-art, textless foils (Dance of the Dead, Tana, the Bloodsower and Tymna the Weaver) plus a playtest card, Auspicious Aquarium.

What's in a Mystery Booster Commander Edition pack

Each of the 24 boosters has 20 cards, per Wizards:

  • 15 commons/uncommons, three of each color
  • 1 reprint wildcard of any rarity
  • 1 rare or mythic reprinted commander
  • 1 new-to-Magic commander (4.75% of these are foil)
  • 1 card that is either a Future Sight frame card or an acorn-stamp foil
  • 1 playtest card

It's built for Commander drafting, not chasing a single slot. That matters for value: like Mystery Booster 2, the box is mostly a play product with some high-end pulls, so most of the resale case rests on scarcity and the bundle, not on expected pack value.

The price went up $50

The last two Festival in a Box releases set the comparison:

  • Las Vegas 2025: $199.99, three per person, with a Mystery Booster 2 box, the four-card "Slay the Day" foil drop and three promos. Star City Games reported it sold out within hours of going on sale on May 19, 2025.
  • Atlanta 2026: $249.99, two per person, with Mystery Booster Commander Edition, Secret Gallery: Atlanta and four promos.

So you pay 25% more and can buy one fewer. Vinch flagged the announcement in our Magic channel the day it went up and pointed out the jump to $250. That's the number to beat before any of this is profit.

Will it sell out?

We don't know, and anyone telling you for sure is guessing. Here's what the record shows:

  • Wizards says it's sold "while supplies last," which is a limited run, not the print-to-demand window many Secret Lair drops use.
  • Las Vegas 2025 sold out in hours at $199.99.
  • Draftsim reported that the Atlanta 2025 box sold out within an hour in the US and EU on August 19, 2025, after server errors and queue problems kept many buyers from checking out. Boxes showed up on eBay at big markups soon after.

The higher price and the two-box limit cut both ways. Fewer boxes per buyer can tighten supply. A $250 ticket also drops some casual buyers, and Secret Lair demand has been mixed lately (see our take on the KPop Demon Hunters Secret Lair).

Cancellations, returns and shipping

Read this before you buy two:

  • Cancelling: Secret Lair's support pages say you can cancel a preorder yourself from the Manage Order page, but once your card has been charged, the order is final unless Customer Support steps in, and a cancelled order can't be reinstated. Since this box is sold while supplies last, you may be charged at checkout rather than later.
  • Returns: Wizards' announcement doesn't list a return option, and we couldn't find one for this product. Assume you can't return it.
  • Shipping: The announcement doesn't give a ship date. For regular Secret Lair drops, Wizards' support page says the shipping stage can take up to 30 days after release. Last year's Vegas box went on sale May 19 and Star City Games reported shipping starting June 21, so plan on waiting about a month before you can ship anything to a buyer.

Because returns aren't confirmed, don't buy this on the assumption that you can send it back.

The fee math

eBay charges 13.25% on Collectible Card Games sales up to $7,500, plus $0.40 per order over $10. Ignoring sales tax and shipping, which vary:

Sale price eBay fees You keep vs. $249.99 cost
$289 $38.69 $250.31 about break-even
$300 $40.15 $259.85 +$9.86
$350 $46.78 $303.22 +$53.23
$400 $53.40 $346.60 +$96.61

These are examples, not predictions. Add sales tax to your cost and you need roughly $290 to $310 just to break even on eBay. Selling locally or to someone who wants the Commander draft box cuts the fees.

Flip, hold or pass?

Our read, as analysis and not a promise:

  • Flip: Only works if it sells out fast like the last two did. The margin at $250 is thin unless sealed boxes go well over $300 after fees and tax, and you'll wait about a month for it to arrive.
  • Hold: This is the stronger case. Mystery Booster Commander Edition hasn't had a wide release before, and the Secret Gallery foils plus textless promos make the box hard to rebuild later. If the product stays scarce, sealed copies can be worth more down the line. There's no guarantee it won't be sold again in some other way.
  • Pass: If you only want a quick flip, you can't afford to wait a month, or you'd be stretching to buy two. No return option means you're locked in once the card is charged.

If you play Commander and would happily draft the box, one copy is a reasonable buy: the hold case is the backup. Buying two purely to flip is riskier at $250 than it was at $200.
