Secret Lair KPop Demon Hunters: Card Value and Our Take

· 6 min read · By the Friends & Family team

One of the biggest movies of all time is finally getting Magic cards, and a lot of fans are unhappy about it. Here's what's in the KPop Demon Hunters Secret Lair, what the seven cards are worth, and why the foil is the only version with real value behind it.

The seven Secret Lair x KPop Demon Hunters cards fanned out: Dawn's Truce, Unbreakable Formation, Freed from the Real, Swan Song, Demonic Counsel, Tempt with Immortality and Underworld Breach

Secret Lair's KPop Demon Hunters drop is real, and it goes on sale October 12. On October 4, the Secret Lair account on X showed the full drop, How It's Done, and added a line that got fans talking: "The crowd's already chanting for more. Good thing we've got more planned! Stay tuned."

That post was the most-liked on the account in the past week, at about 1,600 likes and 160,000 views when we checked. It also came after several days of complaints that the drop has no character cards. Here's what's in it, what the cards are worth, and how we'd think about buying it.

The short version

  • Drop: Secret Lair x KPop Demon Hunters: How It's Done
  • Launch: October 12, 2026 at 9:00 AM PT, with a pre-queue at 8:00 AM PT, only on the Secret Lair store
  • Price: $29.99 non-foil or $39.99 foil
  • Cards: seven reprints, all spells (no creatures)
  • Part of: the eight-drop Corn Maze Superdrop, alongside Marvel Zombies, three Jim Henson's Labyrinth drops and three artist drops
  • Bonus: one foil Maze of Ith promo (renamed "The Labyrinth") for each $199 spent across the Superdrop, while supplies last
  • Shipping: free on orders over $99

All seven cards

Wizards' Corn Maze announcement lists the drop as:

  • Dawn's Truce (instant)
  • Unbreakable Formation (instant)
  • Freed from the Real (enchantment)
  • Swan Song (instant)
  • Demonic Counsel (sorcery)
  • Tempt with Immortality (sorcery)
  • Underworld Breach (enchantment)

The art on the promo image is credited to Scott Watanabe and Helen Chen, with Swan Song credited to Netflix. Wargamer reports the pieces come from the film's production art rather than new paintings made for Magic. Swan Song's flavor text, "SKWAAAAAAAAAAK!", is a nod to the movie's bird.

Why fans are upset

The complaint is simple. KPop Demon Hunters is about its characters, and the drop has no creatures at all, let alone legendary creatures for Rumi, Mira, Zoey or the Saja Boys. Nerdist pointed this out the day the drop was revealed. Wargamer called it a "minimum viable product" and said it's outshined by another drop in the same Superdrop, the Treefolk-themed Peace, Love & Treefolk.

Fans had also expected more than one drop. Hasbro's CEO said on an October 2025 earnings call that KPop Demon Hunters would get a Secret Lair in 2026 (we covered that in our Corn Maze Superdrop teaser breakdown). For a film that big, a single seven-card drop with no characters felt small to a lot of people.

The October 4 post is Wizards' answer: more is planned. But Wizards hasn't said what, when, or whether it includes character cards. Until it does, treat any future drop as unannounced.

What the cards are worth today

ManaValue added up the cheapest current copy of each card on October 5, 2026:

Card Non-foil Foil
Swan Song $10.08 $61.37
Freed from the Real $6.71 $15.45
Underworld Breach $6.70 $10.01
Dawn's Truce $5.78 $6.50
Demonic Counsel $1.80 $2.26
Tempt with Immortality $1.55 n/a
Unbreakable Formation $0.71 $1.34
Total $33.33 $96.93

Two things stand out:

  • Non-foil is near retail. At about $33 in singles against a $29.99 price, there's very little room, and that's before fees.
  • The foil number leans on one card. Foil Swan Song is about 63% of the foil total. That price comes from older foil printings that are hard to find. A new foil printing adds supply, so it's reasonable to expect that number to come down. We can't say by how much.

These are floor-style estimates, not resale prices. Secret Lair versions sometimes sell above the cheapest printing, and reprints often push older copies down.

The crossover factor

What makes this drop different is the audience. KPop Demon Hunters collectibles are already moving on eBay outside of Magic. When we checked sold listings on October 5, 2026, we saw Kayou KPop Demon Hunters booster boxes, promo cards, Funko sets and Mattel dolls all selling in the past week.

That doesn't prove this Secret Lair will sell above sticker. But it does mean some buyers will want the cards for the film, not for Commander.

What's selling on eBay

We searched eBay sold and completed listings for "secret lair kpop demon hunters" on October 5, 2026 and found no sales or presales for this drop yet. Expect listings once the store opens on October 12. When they appear, price off completed sales, not asking prices.

Can you cancel or return it?

From Secret Lair's support FAQ:

  • US sales are final. Secret Lair says "all purchases are final at the time of sale" and that once payment is collected, the sale is final.
  • Cancel only before the charge. You can change or cancel a preorder only while it hasn't been charged. Some orders are charged at checkout.
  • Limits: usually 2 of each product, with separate limits on bundles.
  • Shipping dates: Secret Lair points buyers to its Production and Shipping Status page instead of promising a fixed window.

Plan as if every order is final.

The fee math

eBay's final value fee for Collectible Card Games is 13.25% of the sale (up to $7,500), plus $0.40 per order over $10. To get back just what you paid:

  • Foil ($39.99): sell for about $46.56
  • Non-foil ($29.99): sell for about $35.03

That's before sales tax, shipping and supplies. Our 2026 reseller fee guide compares other places to sell, and if you'd rather crack it and sell singles, see how to sell Magic cards.

Flip, hold or pass?

This is our analysis, not a promise.

Flip: The foil is the only version with a clear gap between price and card value, and that gap depends on foil Swan Song holding up. If you want to flip, the foil is the one to look at, and early presales are usually the best window. The film's fan base could help, but the backlash could also keep some Magic buyers away.

Hold: Holding is a bet that KPop Demon Hunters stays big and that this first drop becomes the one people remember. If Wizards releases character cards later, this drop could look like an early piece, or it could look like the weaker one. We don't know yet.

Pass: The non-foil is roughly retail in singles. Unless you love the film or want the art, it's hard to see a reseller's case at $29.99 after fees.

If you're spending $199 or more across the Superdrop anyway, look at our Labyrinth drops breakdown, which covers the other drops, the bundles and the Maze of Ith math.
