The Hot Wheels Transformers Bumblebee is listed on Mattel Creations at $65.00 (SKU JJY49), with a limit of 3 per customer. Mattel calls it the "third 1:64 Transformers Bot collaboration" from Hot Wheels, based on the G1 version of the character. The product page says the car is a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle body with a weathered paint finish and Real Riders wheels, and that it converts into robot mode.
Our releases page tracks recent eBay sales at an average of about $101 across 9 sales as of October 26, 2026. That is our tracker's figure, a small sample, and we have not re-verified every sale.
What you get
Per the Mattel Creations page:
- Price: $65.00, limit 3 per customer
- Scale: 1:64, sold as a collectible that works both as a car and a transforming figure
- Vehicle mode: weathered yellow 1967 Volkswagen Beetle with Real Riders wheels
- Packaging: reports say the box has a window to display both vehicle and robot modes
- Ships: our tracker notes the order ships on or before March 5, 2027, matching the "Ships on or before" wording on Mattel's listing, and that Red Line Club (RLC) membership is required (the membership is $9.99 per Mattel)
This is the third release in the series. Earlier Hot Wheels x Transformers cars from Mattel Creations included an Optimus Prime. We did not verify those earlier cars' sold prices, so we are not using them as a benchmark.
Why this matters for resale
- Transformers and Hot Wheels collectors overlap. A G1 Bumblebee that actually transforms speaks to two buyer groups at once.
- Early sales are above retail. About $101 against $65 leaves room on paper, per our tracker.
- Member-only and limited per customer. A membership gate and a cap of 3 keep supply smaller than a mass-market car.
The case against
- Long wait. The ship window runs to March 2027, so your cash is tied up for months. Selling something you have not received can break marketplace rules, and Mattel's RLC agreement has its own limits on pre-selling, as we covered in the Datsun 240Z breakdown.
- Small sample. Nine sales is a thin read, and presale listings can come from a few eager buyers.
- Still listed as available. When we checked the Mattel page, the product showed as purchasable. If it stays that way, supply may be larger than the hype suggests. Check the page for current status before buying.
- Fees and shipping. At eBay's 13.6% plus $0.40 per order (checked September 29), a $101 sale leaves roughly $87 before your $65 cost, tax, shipping and packing. See our reseller fees guide.
- Membership cost. The RLC membership is non-refundable, per Mattel's FAQ.
Flip, hold or pass
This is analysis, not a promise.
- Flip: If you already have an order and want out, the early sales are the argument. Wait for completed sales, not asking prices, to confirm the level.
- Hold: If you collect Transformers or Hot Wheels. A transforming G1 Bumblebee is the version people are likely to keep.
- Pass: If you would have to buy an RLC membership just to chase a thin margin.
