Lowkey Flips Today: Project Hail Mary 4K Steelbook (Oct 6)

· 4 min read · By the Friends & Family team

The Amazon-exclusive Project Hail Mary 4K Steelbook comes out next week, and our team says copies are already selling around $80. It's a small flip, not a big one, and right now Amazon has it out of stock.

Today there's one thing worth a look: the Project Hail Mary (4K UHD / Blu-ray Amazon Exclusive Steelbook). Slumpd posted it in our lowkey flips channel last night and called it "some lunch money," with sales around $80. It releases October 13, 2026. When we checked Amazon this morning, the page said temporarily out of stock, so this is a watch-and-hold post. Watch for a restock, and if you already pre-ordered, keep your order.

It was a quiet day in the channel. We'd rather write up one honest small flip than pad the list.

Project Hail Mary 4K Steelbook (Amazon exclusive)

Project Hail Mary is the sci-fi movie starring Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, a science teacher who wakes up alone on a spaceship far from Earth. This edition is the collector's version sold only through Amazon. Amazon's product photo shows a Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Steelbook with a slipcase, a "behind the scenes" booklet, a patch and three discs.

Here's what the Amazon product page showed when we checked on October 6, 2026, around 8:00 AM ET:

  • Product: Project Hail Mary (4K UHD / Blu-ray Amazon Exclusive Steelbook)
  • Format: 4K, Collector's Edition
  • Release date: October 13, 2026
  • Studio: Alliance Home Entertainment
  • Run time: 2 hours 15 minutes, rated PG-13
  • Status: "Temporarily out of stock." Amazon says it's working to get it back in stock.
  • Rank: #4 in Movies & TV and #2 in Science Fiction Blu-ray Discs

Retail vs. our team's estimated resale

  • Retail: Amazon's page didn't show a price while the item was out of stock, so we couldn't confirm the retail price this morning. Check the price on the page before you buy if it comes back.
  • Our team's estimated resale: Slumpd said sales are around $80. That's our team's read of the market, not a promise. Resale prices on movie releases can drop once the release ships and more copies show up.

We tried to check eBay sold listings this morning, but eBay's search returned an error page every time, so we couldn't confirm recent sold prices ourselves. Search sold listings yourself before you list. Also remember that selling fees come out of that $80. Our reseller fees breakdown shows how much eBay keeps on a sale like this.

When, where and limits

  • Where: Amazon only. It's an Amazon exclusive.
  • When: It's sold out right now. Restock timing isn't announced, and the movie releases October 13.
  • Limit and membership: The page didn't show a per-customer limit or a membership requirement while it was out of stock.

Amazon's cancel and return rules

We read Amazon's help pages before writing this:

  • Canceling: Amazon's "Cancel Items and Orders" page says you can cancel items shipped and sold by Amazon "that haven't entered the shipping process" from Your Orders. A pre-order that hasn't shipped yet can be canceled there. You aren't stuck with it if the price drops before release.
  • Returns: Amazon's return policy says most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery "as long as they are in original or unused condition." Keep it sealed if you might return it.
  • Sold by Amazon matters. Those rules are for orders shipped and sold by Amazon. If a third-party seller has it, Amazon says those orders can typically be canceled within one business day, and after that the seller has to approve it.

Since you can cancel a pre-order before it ships and return a sealed copy within 30 days, this is a fairly low-risk buy if you get it from Amazon at retail. The risk is buying a marked-up copy from another seller, so check who the seller is.

Our team's take: small flip, hold if you have one

Slumpd's words were "some lunch money here." That sets the expectation: this isn't a big flip. If you already pre-ordered from Amazon, our team's view is to hold and see where sales sit around release week. If it restocks at retail before October 13, it's worth a look. If you can only find it marked up, pass.

How FNF members hear about these

This came through our lowkey flips Discord channel, where our team posts under-the-radar buys like this one with a direct link and a quick read on where it's selling. Members get pinged so they don't miss a restock. Some days that's three or four drops. Some days, like today, it's one small one, and the team is honest about how big the flip really is.
