One item stands out in our lowkey flips channel today: the 2025 Barbie Dia De Muertos Premium Doll "Calavera Catrin", an upcoming Mattel Creations exclusive. It drops today, October 9, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET. Our team lists it at $100 retail with an estimated resale of $200+, and calls it the better of a few dolls they're watching this week.
2025 Barbie Dia De Muertos Premium Doll "Calavera Catrin"
This is the premium Dia De Muertos Barbie, a Mattel Creations exclusive that Slumpd says our team goes for every year. He stressed it's not the same as the cheaper regular Dia De Muertos dolls.
Here's what we know from our team's post:
- Retail: $100
- Team's estimated resale: $200+
- Drop: October 9, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET
- Where: Mattel Creations
- Membership: Barbie Signature membership needed, per the post
- Limit and variant: unknown. Slumpd says that, like prior years, Mattel doesn't reveal the product page until drop time.
We couldn't check a live product page, because it isn't up yet. That means the price, limit and any restrictions above come from our team, not from Mattel. Treat them as the team's information until the page goes live.
The membership requirement
Mattel's own page for the one-year membership (Barbie Club 59 1-Year Digital Membership) lists it at $9.99. Mattel says the membership lets you buy members-only doll releases, but also that it "does not provide a guarantee to purchase" any product, since that depends on availability. Memberships are non-refundable and non-exchangeable per that page. If you don't have one yet, sort it out before the drop rather than during it.
Retail vs. our team's estimate
- Retail: $100
- Our team's estimated resale: $200+. This is the team's read of the market, not a promise.
Slumpd pointed to sold listings of previous years' releases as the comparison. We didn't load eBay ourselves for this post, so check recent sold listings before you buy or list, and factor in fees (our reseller fees breakdown shows what comes out of a sale).
Slumpd's honest caveat: this year's doll was designed by Angel Kent, an in-house Mattel/Barbie designer, so there's no big outside name behind it like some past years. He says he worried before that a smaller following could hurt the market on these, but earlier ones with similar designers still ended up profitable. His view: "as long as stock isn't anything crazy," these have good potential to flip well.
Mattel's return policy
We read Mattel Creations' return policy page today:
- Items bought directly on MattelCreations.com can be returned within 30 days of receipt for a refund (minus shipping and processing) or an exchange while supplies last.
- Items must be "in the condition received and in the complete original box and/or packaging."
- Shipping and processing fees are non-refundable, and orders shipped to an international address aren't eligible for return.
- Items that can only be refunded, not exchanged, are marked on the product page.
We didn't confirm Mattel's order cancellation rules this time, so don't count on canceling after you submit an order. Plan on a return as your way out. As Slumpd put it, if the doll doesn't flip, "we can always return them." Keep the box and packaging untouched until you've decided.
Our team's take: worth a look if you're a member
Slumpd's read is that this is the strongest of the dolls the team has eyes on. The flip case rests on the doll's sold history in past years and on stock being limited. If a big restock or high stock count shows up, that changes things, so check the limit and listing details when the page goes live.
How our members hear about these
In our channel, the team posts the heads-up the day before, with retail, estimated resale, timing and caveats, then posts the direct link at drop time. Slumpd says members who watch the drop alerts channel get a few extra seconds to be ready.
