Lowkey Flips Today: Finalmouse SLX Achilles (Oct 21)

· 4 min read · By the Friends & Family team

Finalmouse's SLX Achilles mouse drops October 26 at $179, and our team isn't hyped. Here's the honest read, plus a $27.99 Halo ornament from Amazon and the return rules for both.

What's worth a look today? Two things from our private lowkey flips channel, and the honest answer is that neither one is a slam dunk. The Finalmouse SLX Achilles is a visibility post with a lukewarm outlook, and the Hallmark Halo console ornament is a small buy our team says to pass on unless you're comfortable with returns. Everything below is our team's read plus what we confirmed on the stores' own pages.

Finalmouse SLX Achilles (Son of Thetis and Son of Peleus)

This is the second SLX drop, in two colorways. From Finalmouse's product pages, read this morning:

  • Price: $179, with free FedEx 2 Day shipping to the continental US.
  • When: The public drop is October 26 at 11 AM Pacific (2 PM Eastern). The page says to refresh at that time.
  • Early access: Past "Frostkey" holders can get an early access link through a code. Our team's post says early access started October 19 and that it isn't expected to sell out during that window.
  • Edition size: Our team's post says each colorway is limited to 10,000 pieces. We couldn't confirm that number on the product pages, so treat it as the team's figure.
  • Limit: The pages don't describe a per-customer limit.
  • Ship date: The page says orders are expected to begin shipping in about three weeks.

What our team thinks

Our team's estimated resale is under $300, trending toward the mid-to-higher end at best, with roughly $350 as an absolute ceiling, and the poster said he's not hopeful about reaching it. That is the team's estimate, not a promise.

Their caveats are the useful part:

  • Hype has cooled. The post says Finalmouse excitement has faded, partly because of reports about quality control and customer service.
  • Not for everyone. It's described as mostly a visibility post. The team does like the design.
  • Longer wait. With shipping about three weeks out, your money is tied up for a while before you can sell.

Team take: Hold off unless you want one for yourself. If you're thinking about flipping, the margin has to survive a $179 buy-in, a wait, and a market that may not cooperate.

Can you return it?

Finalmouse's product page says returns are free within 14 days of receiving your purchase. Its refund policy says refunds are issued after the company receives and inspects the return, and international orders don't get shipping refunded. We didn't find a cancellation policy on the pages we read, so don't assume you can cancel after ordering. We couldn't check eBay results ourselves today, so look at recent sold listings, not active asking prices, before you decide.

Hallmark Keepsake Halo ornament (Amazon exclusive)

This one is a small, cheap buy. It's an Amazon-exclusive Hallmark ornament styled like the green Xbox Halo special edition console. It lights up and plays the console startup sound and the "Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix" from Halo 2.

From the Amazon page, read this morning:

  • Price: $27.99 in the buy box, sold and shipped by Amazon.
  • Delivery: Showed October 29 to November 2 for our checker's location.
  • Details: Plastic, about 3.5 x 1.25 x 3.5 inches, battery operated with three LR44 batteries included.
  • Returns: The buy box shows a free 30-day refund/replacement. Amazon's general return policy says most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in original or unused condition, in the original packaging.

What our team thinks

One of our team members said he's buying some because it's a fun one and he wants one himself. His warning is the part to take seriously: if you don't want to deal with returns, pass. He thinks there are likely a lot of these out there and that they may not flip. We didn't find resale numbers for it and didn't check eBay, so there's no estimate here.

Team take: Pass unless you want it for yourself or you're fine sending it back.

Update: yesterday's RLC drop

Our team called the Hot Wheels RLC RWB drop on October 20 the toughest RLC drop they've seen recently. It went out of stock, and they said to expect strong eBay demand. See yesterday's post for the details. We haven't checked resale prices since.
