What's worth a look today? One drop: the Hot Wheels RLC Exclusive Datsun 240Z, which goes live on Mattel Creations at noon Eastern today (October 27). Our team flagged it in the private lowkey flips channel last night and called expectations low. Everything below is their read plus what we confirmed on Mattel's own pages.

Hot Wheels RLC Exclusive Datsun 240Z: Standard or Chase

This is the fourth and final Red Line Club chase-car drop of the year. Mattel's page describes a 1:64 Datsun 240Z in a racing livery with a bold #24 on the doors, a carbon-fiber-inspired hood and metallic bronze Real Riders wheels with Toyo Tires sidewall detailing. It ships in a Kar Keepers clamshell case.

There are two versions, and which one you get is random:

  • Standard: Spectraflame aqua body with a molded black interior and aqua seats.
  • Chase: premium pure chrome body with red seats. Mattel says each Chase car is individually numbered and stickered, with a limited run of 5,000 worldwide.

Mattel is clear that Chase variants may replace the Standard at random and that receiving a Chase car is not guaranteed.

What we read on Mattel's page this morning:

  • Price: $28
  • When: noon Eastern, October 27, 2026
  • Limit: 2 per person (the page is tagged with a limit of 2, and Mattel notes limits can change at its sole discretion)
  • Membership: Red Line Club membership is required. Mattel lists a 1-year RLC digital membership at $9.99.

Retail vs the team's estimated resale

Our team put retail at $28 and estimated resale at $45+. That's an estimate from the channel, not a promise. We didn't load eBay ourselves for this post, so we can't tell you whether current listings are active or sold, or what they look like right now. The team's post linked a sold-listing search for the Chase version, so that's the place to check before you decide.

What our team thinks

In the team's words, this one should land somewhere between the first two chase drops (which were solid) and the most recent one, the Ford Bronco (which was not), but closer to the Bronco. Expectations are low. A few things they pointed out:

  • Other Datsuns have sold out in past years.
  • Collector forums seem happy with either color, which helps demand.
  • The Chase will sell if you pull one.
  • If presale prices hold, there's some small profit to be made, but based on how several other RLC drops have gone, the team finds it hard to believe they will.

Team take: Low-expectation flip. Worth a look if you're already an RLC member and want a couple of pieces, and a pass if you'd have to buy a membership just for this car. Remember that membership costs money too, so run your own math.

Can you cancel or return it?

Straight from Mattel Creations' pages:

  • Cancel: Mattel's FAQ says: "Once an order is submitted, it cannot be changed or canceled."
  • Return: You can return an item within 30 days of receipt for a refund of the purchase price plus applicable sales tax. Shipping and processing fees are not refunded.
  • Condition matters: the item must be in the condition received and in its complete original box and packaging. Orders shipped to international addresses aren't eligible for return. Mattel says to allow a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks to process a return once it's received.

So the risk is limited by the return window, but only if you keep the packaging intact. That's why our team called it low risk on Mattel. Opening a clamshell to check what you got can undo that.
