Metroid Ravenous Special Edition: $119.99, Flip?

· 2 min read · By the Friends & Family team

Metroid Ravenous hits Switch 2 on January 28, 2027, and the physical Special Edition (game, SteelBook and a Samus amiibo) is already hard to find at retail. Here is what is in it and whether it is worth chasing.

Metroid Ravenous launches January 28, 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2. The physical Special Edition includes the game, a SteelBook case and a Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo, per Nintendo's store page and Gematsu. The US retail price is reported at $119.99 (Nintendo's page does not list it, so confirm at checkout).

Our releases page recorded an average of about $272 across 10 recent eBay sales for the Special Edition as of October 26, 2026. That is more than double retail, but these are pre-release sales of a product nobody has received yet, so treat the number as a signal and not a promise.

What is in the Special Edition

  • The physical game for Switch 2
  • A SteelBook case
  • A Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo

The standard digital edition is listed at $59.99. Nintendo says amiibo functionality details will come later.

The standalone amiibo

Two Metroid Ravenous amiibo also launch January 28, 2027: Samus at $24.99 and a larger Chozo Statue at $44.99, according to our releases data. Our page logged about $83 average on 3 Samus sales on October 5, 2026. Reports disagree on whether the Metroid Suit Samus will ever be sold on its own, so the Special Edition may be the only way to get it.

Why this matters for resale

  • Limited physical bundle. The SteelBook and exclusive amiibo are not in the standard edition.
  • Tight stock. Reports say the Special Edition has sold out at several major retailers.
  • Nintendo collectors. amiibo and SteelBook pieces from big franchises have a dedicated buyer base.

Risks and the case against

  • Pre-release prices fade. Early sales often come from people who could not get a copy. Once shipments land, prices can drop.
  • Restocks. Retailers can add stock closer to launch.
  • You cannot ship what you do not hold. Selling a pre-order you have not received can break marketplace rules. Check eBay's policy first.
  • Fees and shipping. About 13% in fees takes a real bite. See our reseller fees guide.
  • Condition risk. A SteelBook dent or a damaged amiibo box cuts the price.

Flip, hold or pass

This is analysis, not a promise.

  • Flip: If you hold a confirmed pre-order at retail and completed sales still sit well above $119.99 after fees once copies ship.
  • Hold: If you are a Metroid fan. The first-run Samus amiibo is the point.
  • Pass: If you would have to pay a marked-up price to get one. The edge disappears fast.
