MTG Star Trek Pull Rates: LCARS Shock Lands, Stardates

· 4 min read · By the Friends & Family team

Wizards published the exact pack odds for Magic x Star Trek. The chase lands and reprints are easier to open than the signed cards, and that is where the singles price pressure will come from.

Wizards of the Coast has published the slot-by-slot pull rates for Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek, which releases November 13, 2026. We already covered the sealed MSRPs per pack, the Commander decks and the shipping delays. This piece is about the odds, because odds are what tell you whether a chase card will be scarce or plentiful.

Every number below comes from Wizards' own collecting guide. Nobody has opened a box yet, so there are no sold listings and no street prices to report.

The odds Wizards published

LCARS shock lands. There are 10 rare LCARS shock lands (the shock lands in the set's LCARS frame, with planet art). Wizards' guide names Watery Grave, Steam Vents, Overgrown Tomb and Breeding Pool among them. Rates per slot:

Booster Finish Published rate
Collector Booster Non-foil 7.7%
Collector Booster Traditional foil 8.9%
Collector Booster Surge foil 4.6%
Play Booster Rare slot 1.4%
Play Booster Wildcard and foil slots less than 1% each

Stardates cards. There are 30 mythic rare reprints (set code SDS) with Star Trek treatments of famous Magic cards, such as Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. Rates:

  • Collector Booster: non-foil 23.1%, traditional foil 5%.
  • Play Booster: 1 in 25 packs has a stardates card replacing a common. Non-foil only, since foils are Collector-only.

What that means per box

These are rough multiplications, not Wizards' numbers. They assume each published rate is a per-pack chance and ignore duplicates, so treat them as a sense of scale.

  • Collector Booster box (12 packs): about 2.5 LCARS shock lands of any finish (roughly 0.9 non-foil, 1.1 foil, 0.55 surge foil) and about 2.8 non-foil stardates cards.
  • Play Booster box (30 packs): about 1.2 stardates cards from the 1-in-25 rate, and well under one LCARS shock land.

The shape matters more than the decimals. A Collector box should produce a few LCARS lands, but they are spread over 10 different cards and three finishes. Any one specific land in surge foil is a much smaller target: the 4.6% rate is for any of the 10.

Why it matters to resellers and holders

  • Shock lands are playable staples. Reprinted or reframed shock lands tend to be wanted by Commander and older-format players, which is why the LCARS frames will get attention. We will not guess at prices before launch.
  • Supply of the common finishes will be wide. Non-foil and traditional foil versions show up in both Play and Collector Boosters. Surge foil is only in Collector Boosters, so that is the scarcer finish by design.
  • The signed headliners are a different game. Wizards still does not publish an insertion rate for the signed headliner cards; it only caps each at fewer than 250 copies. The shock lands and stardates cards have real numbers, which makes them easier to price in your head than the signed cards.
  • Singles move first. The full card gallery is not due until after launch week, and prerelease runs November 6 to 12, so early singles prices can swing hard before supply is clear.

Fee math

eBay's published rate for Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games is 13.25% of the sale up to $7,500, plus $0.40 per order over $10 (we checked the page today). A $20 single sold on eBay leaves about $16.95 before shipping and supplies. At low prices, shipping and the per-order fee eat a large share, so bundle cheap singles rather than selling them one by one.

Retailer terms

We have not verified any retailer's preorder cancellation, return or shipping-window policy for these products. Wizards does not state one, and Collector Boosters may arrive late in some regions. Check that you can cancel before shipment and look for a real ship date before you preorder. We would not call any sealed preorder low-risk; it is only lower-risk where the seller accepts returns, which you have to confirm yourself.

Flip, hold or pass

This is analysis, not a promise.

  • Flip: Singles, once real sold listings exist. If you open your own packs at prerelease, sell the duplicates and the non-foil finishes early, while demand is highest, and only if sold prices (not asking prices) clear the 13.25% fee.
  • Hold: Surge foil LCARS lands and anything signed, if you are comfortable waiting. Scarce finishes can take months to find their level.
  • Pass: Sealed Collector Boxes bought far above MSRP on the strength of "2.5 shock lands per box". The odds describe a box's contents, not what buyers will pay for them.
