· 6 min read · By the Friends & Family team

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek prerelease events start tomorrow, November 6. The prerelease pack has been selling on eBay for roughly $32 to $40, which is less than six Play Boosters cost at MSRP. Here is what is inside, when it is available and whether a kit is worth flipping.

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek prerelease runs November 6 to 12, 2026, and the full set releases on November 13. A Star Trek Prerelease Pack contains 6 Play Boosters, 1 traditional foil promo card, 1 deck box and 1 spindown die, per Wizards of the Coast. Wizards does not publish a retail price for the kit. Retailer listings we saw put it near $33 to $39, and on November 5, 2026 eBay sold listings for single kits ranged about $32 to $40.

This piece covers the questions people are typing right now: when is the Star Trek prerelease, what is in the prerelease pack, what does it cost and is a kit worth reselling. For the rest of the lineup, see our booster box and bundle price breakdown and the Stardates chase list.

When is the Star Trek prerelease?

Prerelease is November 6 to 12, 2026. Per Wizards' WPN event page, stores can schedule events starting at 12 p.m. local time on Friday, November 6, with unlimited scheduling inside that week. The set itself releases November 13.

Wizards also lets Wizards Play Network stores sell new-set products during prerelease week, a week ahead of the wider release. That is why some stores will have boxes and bundles early. It is store policy, not a guarantee, so call before you drive.

Other dates from the same Wizards schedule:

  • Commander Party: November 20-26, 2026, and January 15-21, 2027 (Commander promos Munitions Enthusiast and Highly Illogical, while supplies last).
  • Season-long events: Magic Presents: To Boldly Go, Standard Showdown and Two-Headed Giant Commander Night run November 13, 2026 to January 28, 2027.

What is in the Star Trek prerelease pack?

Wizards lists the pack contents as:

  1. 6 Star Trek Play Boosters
  2. 1 traditional foil promo card
  3. 1 deck box
  4. 1 spindown die

You build a 40-card Sealed deck from the pack plus basic lands. Wizards' WPN page describes the extra card as a rare or mythic rare. Wizards does not name the promo in the sources we checked, so we are not guessing which card it is.

How much is a Star Trek prerelease pack?

There are two prices to separate: the kit itself and an event entry.

  • Kit, retailer listings we saw on Google (Nov 5): TCGplayer $33.45, Victory Point Games $35.00 (marked down from $38) and other stores $30 to $40. One Target third-party listing showed $59.99 and was out of stock, so that number should not be read as a price.
  • Store event entries: local stores list prerelease tickets from roughly $30 to $47, depending on the store and the time slot.
  • Wizards' MSRP: not published in the sources we checked. We are not stating one.

For comparison, the per-pack MSRP for a Star Trek Play Booster is $6.99, per Wizards' collecting guide, so six Play Boosters are $41.94 at MSRP. A kit near $35 includes the same six boosters plus the foil promo, deck box and die for less than the boosters alone. That is the main reason kits sell fast.

Star Trek prerelease pack eBay sold prices

We checked eBay sold listings on November 5, 2026 (Toys & Hobbies, sealed, "Star Trek prerelease pack"). These are completed sales, not asking prices:

What sold Price Sold
Single kit, free shipping $31.99 Nov 4
Single kit, free shipping $37.00 to $38.99 Nov 1 to 4
Single kit, free shipping $39.99 Oct 22
Single kit shipped from Italy (+$56.13 delivery) $44.80 Nov 3
Lot of 2 kits (+$10 delivery) $69.00 Oct 14
Lot of 6 kits (+$15.50 delivery) $199.00 (about $33.17 each) Nov 3
Full case of 15 kits (+$9.97 delivery) $425.00 (about $28.33 each) Nov 4

Single kits clustered around $32 to $40 with free shipping, and bulk buyers paid less per kit. Many of these were preorders that ship on or around November 6, so prices can move once stores open the kits. One seller's active listing showed $20, but that is an asking price, not a sale, so we ignored it.

Is a prerelease pack worth flipping?

Run the math at a typical sale price of $35:

  • eBay's Collectible Card Games rate is 13.25% of the sale (up to $7,500), per eBay's fee page, which we checked today. That is about $4.64 on a $35 sale, plus eBay's small per-order fee.
  • You net about $30.36 before shipping and packaging.
  • If you paid the $33.45 TCGplayer price, you are about $3 under water before shipping. If you bought at the $28.33-per-kit case price from the sold listings, you clear roughly $2 per kit, before shipping, which is thin.

So at launch prices, a prerelease pack is a flip-or-pass at best. The margin is too small to survive shipping unless you buy in bulk well below $30 per kit.

Flip, hold or pass?

This is analysis, not a promise.

  • Flip: Only in bulk at a per-kit cost under about $28, and only if you can ship cheaply. Single kits at $33 to $39 are priced at what they sell for.
  • Hold: Not a strong hold. Prerelease kits are a mass-produced event product. Wizards has not stated a print limit and we have no sold history yet for a post-launch price.
  • Pass: On any kit listed above $45 plus shipping, and on imports with delivery fees that double the price.

For players, the store entry is the easy value: the foil promo, deck box and die come with the six boosters, and you get to play the set a week early.

Cancellation and shipping

Wizards states no retailer cancellation or return policy for the kit, and each store sets its own. Check the specific listing before you pay. For example, the TCGplayer search result showed "30-day returns" and a Google listing showed free delivery, but we did not verify those terms in a cart, so confirm them yourself. Many eBay preorders ship around November 6, so confirm the ship date.

The full card gallery and singles pricing will move fastest once cards are opened on the weekend of November 6-8. Watch Collector Booster and Play Booster box prices on release week. Wizards has also warned that some Star Trek products may arrive late in some regions, which we covered in our delay explainer.
