Bandai Spirits is bringing back the PROPLICA The Legend of Zelda Master Sword, its 1:1 replica of Link's sword, for an April 2027 re-release. Preorders opened on October 1, and the US preorders went fast. Entertainment Earth's $269.99 listing already shows "Pre-Sold Out," and HLJ says its preorder slots are full.
Short version: if you already own a first-run sword, the re-release is your signal to sell. If you're hoping to preorder one to flip, the margin is thin and getting thinner.
What's being re-released
Bandai's collectibles brand Tamashii Nations announced the re-release on September 30, during Zelda's 40th anniversary year. It's the same sword that first came out in Japan in September 2024:
- About 105 cm (41 inches) long, in ABS plastic, rated 15+
- Sound effects from the series that play when you press buttons on the hilt, plus 8 songs from across the Zelda games
- A built-in vibration feature that syncs with the sounds
- Comes with the sheath and a display stand, so you can show the sword in or out of its sheath
- Runs on 2 AA batteries. The US box is about 42.5 inches long and weighs about 8 lb, per Entertainment Earth.
The Japanese price is ¥29,700 including tax (about $189), per Tamashii Nations' announcement as reported by Essential Japan and The Rotten Usagi. Preorders opened at 4 PM JST on October 1 through Tamashii's web store and hobby shops.
Where preorders stand
Wario64 flagged the US preorder on X on the evening of October 1. Here's what we could confirm today:
- Entertainment Earth: $269.99, "Pre-Sold Out." It's expected to arrive in June 2027. You can still sign up for an in-stock alert.
- HLJ: $204.79, preorder slots full. It's expected in April 2027. HLJ says it may take more orders after release if stock allows.
- Big Bad Toy Store also took preorders, per Wario64's post. We didn't confirm its price or current stock.
Selling out at Entertainment Earth this fast tells you demand is real. But a pre-sold-out page means one retailer's allocation is gone, not that the re-release is limited. Bandai hasn't announced a production cap, and the whole point of a re-release is to make enough for the people who missed the first run.
What the first run resells for now
We checked eBay sold listings this morning. In September 2026, the first-run Master Sword sold at least 19 times for between $270 and $477, with one outlier at $650. The middle sale was $375. One sold on October 1, the day preorders opened, also for $375.
That's a solid premium over the roughly $200 US retail the first time around (Nintendo Life reported a $199.99 GameStop listing in 2024). But those prices come from a market with no new supply coming. That just changed.
Flip, hold or pass? Our take
Already own a first-run sword? Sell. Buyers paying $375 now have a cheaper option in April 2027. As more people hear about the re-release, some will wait instead of paying a premium. If you were planning to sell, the next few weeks are likely better than next spring.
Preordering to flip? Pass at $270. Do the math on a $375 sale: eBay's fees take roughly $50, and a 42-inch, 8 lb box costs a lot to ship. That leaves little or nothing over a $270 cost, before you count a 9-month wait for your money. And $375 is the price before the re-release lands. Prices often fall back toward retail when a re-release arrives.
Got a preorder near Japanese retail? Hold, carefully. A Japanese preorder near ¥29,700, or HLJ at about $205, gives you more room. You'll still pay international shipping on a big box, though. If US retailers sell out again by April 2027, there's a window to sell sealed swords. But we don't know how many Bandai is making, so treat that as a maybe.
Want one to keep? Preorder and relax. This is a great display piece for a Zelda fan. Waiting for the re-release beats paying $375 now.
What to watch
- More US retailer listings. If GameStop, Amazon or Bandai's own US channels list it, supply is bigger than the Entertainment Earth sellout suggests.
- eBay sold prices this month. If first-run prices drop toward $300, the market has priced in the re-release.
- The April 2027 release. Watch whether stores get enough stock to meet demand or sell through again.
- Other Zelda 40th anniversary drops. First 4 Figures' $623.99 Decayed Master Sword replica from Tears of the Kingdom ships in December 2026, per Screen Rant. That's a separate, more expensive item, so don't mix them up when you search.
