The Odyssey limited edition 4K steelbook retails for $39.99, and the Premium Giftset for $299.99, with both coming out November 17, 2026 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Both sold out at retail within days of going up. On eBay we checked on November 1, 2026, US presale listings of the steelbook sold mostly between $85 and $100, and the gift set between $435 and $520. The gift set certificate is numbered out of 5,000, which is the only published quantity. Universal has not said how many steelbooks exist.
The Odyssey 4K steelbook price: how much is it?
- Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Steelbook: $39.99. It includes a Blu-ray and a bonus disc of behind-the-scenes extras, per Gizmodo's report on the Amazon listing.
- Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Premium Giftset: $299.99. It has a different exclusive steelbook, an authentic IMAX 70mm film cell with a display holder, a limited edition copy of Filming The Odyssey, and a certificate of authenticity numbered out of 5,000.
- Standard editions: about $30 for the 4K and Blu-ray combo, $25 for Blu-ray and $20 for DVD, per Gizmodo.
- Release date: November 17, 2026, announced by Universal. Our Discord flagged the steelbook on September 23 with a limit of 2 per customer.
Is The Odyssey steelbook sold out?
Yes. Comicbookmovie.com reported on October 14 that both the steelbook and the gift set were already sold out. Cancelled orders sometimes restock close to release day, so check the Amazon listings in the days before November 17.
The Odyssey steelbook eBay sold price
We checked completed US eBay sales on November 1, 2026. Every listing is a presale, so sellers are selling copies that have not shipped yet.
- Limited steelbook, US sellers: about $79 to $120, with most between $85 and $100. Dozens sold between October 23 and 31, nearly all new, sealed and marked "presale 11/17".
- Imports: Canadian and German listings sold for about $55 to $105 before shipping and import fees.
- Premium Giftset: $435 to $520. Five US sales: $519.99 (October 30), $465 (October 16), $452.87 and $449 (October 24), and $435 on a best offer (October 27).
How rare is The Odyssey steelbook?
Only the gift set has a number: 5,000 numbered certificates. The steelbook is "limited edition" with no stated print run, and standard editions will be everywhere. That is why the steelbook sells at roughly twice retail now but may not hold that after release.
Why The Odyssey matters for resale
- Big film, big audience. Comicbookmovie.com reports it grossed over $1.78 billion worldwide.
- Nolan's collectors. Limited editions of his films draw a dedicated fanbase.
- Hard-to-get retail. Both versions sold out before release.
- The gift set is a real collectible. The film cell and numbered certificate make it more than a disc.
Risks and the case against
- Presale prices are not delivered prices. Buyers are paying a premium for a product that ships November 17 or later. Once standard editions are widely available, interest can drop.
- Unknown steelbook supply. If Universal printed a lot, the $85 to $100 range could slide toward $60.
- Fees. eBay takes roughly 13% plus a small order fee. See the reseller fees guide.
- Delivery risk. If you sold before your copy arrives and the order is cancelled or delayed, you owe the buyer a refund.
- Corner damage. Steelbooks need a rigid mailer, or buyers dispute them.
The math
Steelbook: sold at $90 with free shipping. About $12 in fees and about $5 to ship leaves roughly $73, or about $33 profit on a $39.99 steelbook.
Gift set: sold at $450. About $60 in fees and about $20 for a boxed ship leaves roughly $370, or about $70 profit on $299.99. It ties up more cash for a thinner margin.
Flip, hold or pass
This is analysis, not a promise.
- Flip the steelbook: if you got one at $39.99 and presale prices are above $85. Selling into the presale is the cleanest exit.
- Hold the gift set: if you collect Nolan's work. The film cell and numbered certificate suit a collector, not a quick flip.
- Pass: if you would pay more than about $60 for the steelbook. After release the margin disappears.
