The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition launched on October 29, 2026, and it lists at $519.99 on Nintendo's own store. On launch day, new consoles sold on eBay for about $700: we counted 28 sales between $675 and $750, averaging about $704. The Pro Controller sold for about $155 to $170 and the carrying case for about $60 to $65. Short version: the premium is real, but it only works if you bought at retail, and that's where our members had the edge.
Inside Friends & Family, launch day looked like it does for every big video game console release and limited collector item we cover: our community doesn't miss a beat. The team posts the links early, and members get moving. For the specs and our earlier sold check, see our Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 resale breakdown and our release-day restocks post.
How much is the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2?
Nintendo's Store lists the console at $519.99 (we read it in the page data on October 29; the page showed a "more inventory is on the way" notice, so it wasn't purchasable when we looked). Our team's retail numbers for the rest of the lineup were:
- Console: $520 ($519.99 on Nintendo's store)
- Pro Controller: $100 ($99.99 on Nintendo's store), or $110 with the display stand (Nintendo exclusive)
- Carrying case: $40
The console doesn't include a game. Nintendo says it comes with green and gold Joy-Con 2 controllers, a black and gold dock with a Triforce on the front, and the Joy-Con 2 Grip and straps.
Where to buy the Zelda 40th Switch 2
For launch, our team posted direct links for the console, the Pro Controller and the carrying case at Nintendo, Amazon, Target, Best Buy, GameStop and Walmart. The team also said Best Buy would have in-store stock on November 5, and that GameStop stores would only get a few consoles per store (about five or so), which they said wasn't worth camping for. They also expected restocks on release day as people cancel pre-orders.
Limited consoles rarely sit on shelves, so the pre-order is where the opportunity is. Our members pre-order the minute listings go up, and with links for every major retailer in one place, members checking out by hand can place an order at several stores and go for the maximum per-customer quantity at each one. Each retailer sets its own limit and can change it, so check the product page for the current number.
What members got
Members who got in early have been posting photos of their pickups in #success: boxed consoles, Pro Controllers and carrying cases. A few of them, shared with the members' okay, are below.

Zelda Switch 2 price on eBay
We checked eBay's sold listings on October 29, launch day, and counted about 60 sales of the console and accessories, all from that one day. Here's what sold, by item:
| Item | Retail | eBay sold, Oct 29 |
|---|---|---|
| Console | $519.99 | $675 to $750, about $700 typical (28 sales, average about $704) |
| Console bundles with extras | n/a | $860 to $907 (three sales) |
| Pro Controller | $99.99 | $140 to $170, most at $155 to $165 |
| Pro Controller with display stand | $110 | $205 to $233 |
| Carrying case | $40 | $60 to $65 (four sales) |
| Joy-Con 2 pair only | n/a | $275 (one sale) |
That matches the numbers our team shared on October 22, before launch: console $680+, Pro Controller $155+, Pro Controller with stand $200+ and carrying case $60+. Two cautions. Many of these listings were presales, where the seller doesn't have the item in hand yet, so some of the people who sold may still need to find a unit. And prices can drop fast once restocks arrive. These are launch-day sales, not a promise of what anything will sell for later.
Is the Zelda 40th Switch 2 sold out? Restocks
Nintendo has said it underestimated demand and that restocks are coming, without giving dates or quantities, according to Dexerto and God is a Geek. Our team's most concrete date was November 5, when they said Best Buy would have in-store stock. Restocks are the main risk to the $700 price: if supply catches up, the premium shrinks.
The math: does it flip?
On a $700 sale with the 7.35% console fee our team cited for an eBay basic store, the fee is about $51. Against a $519.99 retail price, that leaves roughly $129 before sales tax at purchase, shipping supplies and postage. Our team's own estimate after those costs was about $60 to $70 per console, depending on tax rates. Your costs will differ, and eBay fees and store plans change, so run your own numbers.
Return rules: know them before you buy
Buying multiples ties up real money, so check the return policy at each store. Nintendo's Store says you have 30 days after delivery to return a product bought directly from them, but it will not accept items that have been opened or unsealed. A sealed console can go back; an opened one generally can't. We haven't verified the cancellation and return rules for the other retailers, so read them before you order.
Flip, hold or pass? Our take
If you got one at retail: flip or hold, your call. Short-term profit is there but modest, and our team said they plan to put some away for the long term, citing a big anniversary console early in the Switch 2's life, with a possible push closer to the holidays. A restock wave could just as easily push prices down.
If you'd have to pay an eBay premium to get one: pass. After fees there's little left.
If you collect Zelda: hold it sealed. Sealed boxes are what buyers pay for.
This is analysis, not a promise, and results are never guaranteed.
