Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition launches October 29, 2026, per Nintendo's own store listing. The US price of $519.99 comes from Nintendo Life and Tom's Hardware's coverage of the announcement. The matching Pro Controller is $99.99, or $109.99 with a display stand, according to Nintendo Life. The console was revealed in the Zelda 40th anniversary Nintendo Direct on September 8.

The console does not include a game.

What you get

  • Switch 2 system with Zelda-inspired patterns on the back
  • Joy-Con 2 controllers in green and gold with Triforce details, plus a Joy-Con 2 Grip and two straps
  • Black and gold dock with a Triforce on the front
  • The usual AC adapter, USB-C charging cable and Ultra High Speed HDMI cable

A matching carrying case and screen protector also launch October 29. We could not confirm a US price for it. In Japan, Nintendo lists the Pro Controller with display stand and the case alongside the console, per its Japan release.

What it sells for

Our releases page records an eBay sold average of $688 across 10 sales for the console and $149 across 10 sales for the Pro Controller, both as of October 26, 2026. Those are our team's checks of completed sales against the $519.99 and $99.99 retail prices, and they were taken before launch. Tom's Hardware also reported pre-order listings reaching around $1,000 on eBay, so asking prices run higher than sold prices.

Why this matters for resale

  • Milestone edition. It marks 40 years of Zelda and is a special-edition Switch 2.
  • Pre-launch premium. Completed sales are already above retail on both items.
  • Zelda demand. The Ocarina of Time remake follows on November 5, which keeps the franchise in the news.
  • Matching accessories. The controller and case give sellers extra, cheaper items to move.

Risks and the case against

  • Small sample. Ten sales per item is not a market, and premiums often shrink once stock reaches shelves.
  • Unknown supply. We found no confirmed production numbers. If Nintendo restocks, prices fall.
  • Big cash outlay. $519.99 plus tax is a lot to tie up, and a boxed console is heavy to ship.
  • Fees. On a $700 sale the marketplace fee and shipping take a real bite; see our reseller fees guide.
  • Condition. Sealed boxes sell for more; open it and the premium mostly goes.
  • Marketplace rules. Selling a pre-order you do not hold can break them.

Flip, hold or pass

This is analysis, not a promise.

  • Flip: If you hold a confirmed order at retail and sold prices stay well above retail after fees once units ship.
  • Hold: If you are a Zelda collector. Sealed consoles are what buyers pay for.
  • Pass: If you would have to pay an eBay premium to get one. After fees there is little left.
