Searches for "rayquaza lego set" rose about 400% in the past 24 hours, according to Google Trends (US, checked November 1, 2026). The LEGO Pokémon Rayquaza (72168) is a 1,083-piece set that retails for $129.99 on the LEGO Shop and was still available with a limit of 2 on November 1. LEGO has not published a print run or a retirement date, so there is no official number for how rare it is. Sealed copies have sold on eBay for roughly $89 to $108, which is below retail.

Rayquaza LEGO set price: how much is it?

Retail prices, per the LEGO Shop US listing and Serebii:

  • LEGO Pokémon Rayquaza 72168 (US): $129.99
  • UK: £119.99 (Miketendo64)
  • Release date: August 1, 2026 (Serebii, Miketendo64)
  • Pieces: 1,083. The model stands about 15 inches (38 cm) tall and sits on a Sky Pillar base.
  • Minifigure: Zinnia, a Draconid Trainer holding an Ultra Ball. Serebii calls her the first Pokémon-set minifigure.
  • Ages: 18+
  • LEGO Insiders points: 845 points on the LEGO Shop

One thing to check at the register: LEGO's current gift with purchase, "Build, Paint and Play!", unlocks when you spend over $130. The Rayquaza alone is $129.99, one cent short, per the LEGO Shop page. The offer ends 11/08/2026.

Rayquaza LEGO set eBay sold price

Checked on November 1, 2026 (eBay completed, sold listings, US sellers, sorted by most recent):

Sale type Sold price Date
New sealed, buy it now, free shipping $107.99 Oct 31
New sealed, buy it now, free shipping $98.88 to $99.99 Oct 25 to Oct 31
New sealed, buy it now, +$11.45 shipping $89.99 Oct 30 to Oct 31
New sealed, best offer accepted $95.00 Oct 29
New sealed, auction, 9 bids $90.44 Oct 28
New sealed, auction, 17 bids $92.50 Oct 23
New, damaged box $85.00 to $102.00 Oct 12 to Oct 28
Used, complete set $65.00 to $75.00 Oct 20 to Oct 29
Zinnia minifigure alone $36.00 to $50.00 Oct 21 to Oct 24

The pattern: sealed US sales cleared between about $89 and $108 over the last two weeks, and earlier in October ran $90 to $115. That is $22 to $41 under the $129.99 retail price. Listings from German sellers at $119 to $139 included heavy shipping and were left out of the range.

Rayquaza LEGO set flip math

Using eBay's rate of 13.6% plus $0.40 per order for most categories (eBay selling fees), assume you sell at $99 with free shipping and spend about $17 to ship a box this size:

  • Fees: about $13.87.
  • Net after fees and shipping: roughly $68.
  • Cost at LEGO Shop price: $129.99. That is a loss of about $62 per set.

Even at the top of the range ($107.99), the net is about $76, so you still lose about $54. Our reseller fees guide lists current rates by marketplace.

Why did searches for the Rayquaza LEGO set rise?

We could not find an official reason. LEGO has not announced a retirement or a restock event, and the set has been on sale since August 1. Pokémon news and collector interest tend to move search terms, but we cannot tie this spike to a specific announcement, so treat the 400% as a sign of interest, not of sales.

Risks and the case against

  • It sells under retail. Sealed copies are going for $22 to $41 less than the LEGO Shop price.
  • Plenty of supply. The LEGO Shop still has it in stock, and many sellers are listing sealed copies.
  • Big box, high shipping. A 1,083-piece set costs about $17 to ship, which eats the margin.
  • Retirement is the catalyst. LEGO sets usually only gain value after they retire, and LEGO has not said when this one will.
  • Parting out does not fix it. The Zinnia minifigure alone sells for $36 to $50, but a set without its figure and box sells for less than a sealed one.

Flip, hold or pass

This is analysis, not a promise.

  • Flip: None. At $129.99, you lose money on every sale after fees and shipping.
  • Hold: If you collect Pokémon or LEGO and want to build it. Buying below retail, such as the $89 to $99 sealed listings, makes more sense than buying from LEGO, and any value gain would come after a retirement that LEGO has not announced.
  • Pass: Buying at $129.99 to resell. Wait for a retirement notice or a real sellout before you spend money on it.
